Who stays and who goes?

When everyone is all healthy who stays and who goes? What line up would you like to see?

Forwards:

Plekanec, Pacioretty, Cole, Desharnais, Cammalleri, Gionta, Kostitsyn, Moen, Eller, Gomez, Leblanc, Nokelainen, Darche, Engqvist, Blunden, Palushaj

Defence:

Markov, Kaberle, Subban, Weber, Gorges, Diaz, Emelin, Gill, St. Denis, Campoli

Montreal has nine NHL defencemen regulars. Who stays, who gets traded? What line up would you like to see? If Spacek can be traded can Gomez be traded?

St-denis is sent down

Weber will no more stay with the team. he'll be traded or sent through waiver

That leaves to 9 D - 1 (markov)
Kaberle, Subban, Gorges, Weber, Diaz, Emelin, Gill, Campoli

Im not confident anymore about Markov coming back before mid January

Gill should be traded at deadline for a 2nd rounder. His leadership and PK abilities will interest a lot of contenders...

depending on our position.
Gill would be more useful to the habs if we are fighting for a playoffs spot

Who will flop like a whale on the ice and kill those 5 on 3s without Gill?

What is our goal ? Barely making the playoffs, wasting picks and prospects doing so and getting eliminated in the first round. Or actually thinking about the future and trying to build a contender ?

Sadly, our GMs the last 5 years or so haven't been thinking long term at all.

Gill is a usefull asset for a team inspiring to win it all and we should try to get the most out of it.

At this point, as long as Emelin stays up and gets an extension in July, I really don't care what else happens

Who expected the habs reaching the ECF 2 years ago?

So instead fighting for a playoffs spot (1 pt behind the 7th) we should abandon?

Where is White ? It's the only injured player that I can't wait to see back

February ? Thanks for the info

And I don't expect our GM to replace him with an other scrappy player. Darche, Palushaj or Engqvist are a lot more useful than a Leblond for example

Where did I wrote we should abandon ? Gill is a usefull asset but this team can make or not the playoffs with or without Gill. Trading UFA vets doesn't equal "tanking", it's called assets management.

Remember Souray ? We kept him, but did we make the playoffs ? There's no garanty that we'll make the playoffs if we keep Gill, but it's garanty that we'll get a good young prospect if we trade him for a 2nd round pick... if we can only get a 5th, well, yes than, keep him.

Why couldn't they get a Lapierre or a Halpern or a Asham it think all of these guys fit a better 4th line role then Engqvist, Palushaj or Darche

I agree that if the D core is healthy, yes Gill can be traded for a 2nd (if its his value).

It depends on the return and who else you have. If you think Gorges can be that PK specialist and you have 8-9 NHl calibre d-men and you can get a 2nd for Gill you pull the trigger...not if you still have a couple guys out and you can only get a 4th or 5th, because the message that sends to your team is a much bigger negative than the addition of a mid round pick.

It's a slap in the face to your venterans if you trade an established palyer getting big minutes in the middle of a playoff run.

They won't trade anyone, they're "in it to win it" ().

Haha, this is so spot on. He has been the only reason I have watched the Canadiens the last few games.

I really want Darche out of this team. I know he's quiet and unassuming but damn is he bad at hockey.

Cammy - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Kostitsyn - eller - Moen
Darche - Gomez - Leblanc
extra : Nokelainen

Engqvist, Blunden, Palushaj all back with the Bulldogs

Markov - Gorges
Subban - Gill
Kaberle - Campoli
Emelin

Weber will be moved for a prospect or a 3rd round pick , or sent down again in the AHL.
Diaz = AHL

sadly this probably does mean Weber gets moved... that's a decision that will come back to bite us in 2-3 years, when Weber is a strong top-4 player on a very decent contract for some other team, while we are once again stuck looking to overpay UFA's to fill holes.

and at that time, all we'll see from the usual suspects is complaints about "using hindsight" and "he just work out", as if giving up on a 23 year old dman who has done nothing but show clear signs of future potential, just so we could add another stop-gap aging, expensive vet to make up for poor offseason decisions.

but hey, maybe Kaberle steps in, reverts magically back to top-pairing form, and turns into a steal of a player @ 4.25M$, helping us transform into a contender almost over night... doesn't hurt to dream does it?

time will tell I guess.

What's sad is that all 3 of them were once Habs.

Weber to the Isles for Brock Nelson

A pipe dream, I know.
