I knew I missed something. Just way too much awesome stuff happening tonight for any one man to keep track of.

Weve got so much awesome, were drowning in it.

Whats scary is looking at ESPN's NHL page, the Wild's name is like hidden all over it. And if we win on Saturday at Phoeeney, I think were jumping pretty high in the power rating department.

Were starting to attract some attention. If we can keep up this pace, weve got something really special on our hands here.

Did you NOT see the article from Yahoo?

It already has the Wild at #1 in the power ranking...

Thought it was implied, but I meant ESPN's power rankings.

Oh my! What a great morning to wake up to, a very solid win vs Lanny (?) and a gret game by Hackett! All we do is win, and I like it! If we can keep this up atleast somewhat during December we have an ok chance for a good place!

Russo blogs: Everyone on the Wild bench knew it was a bad call, and Koivu, the Wild's captain, stood up according to Yeo and screamed, "'We're getting this kill,' and you know what? I believed him."
man... that's awesome!

I fell asleep/passed out before the 4th goal.

But aside from the 10 minutes after Brodziak's ejection, the Wild looked really dang good.

I think other teams and crews are finally mentioning us because A) if their team loses, well, it's to the #1 team in the nation so NBD right? and B) if their team wins, they are extra awesome because they just beat the #1 team in the nation so surely it heralds a swift ascension up the standings. Provides decent spin either way.

it's called optimism, besides im just a fan i can say whatever the **** i want, its the guys who are playing the games that need to be careful about their mentality before games.

Watched the game back.

Hackett continues to impress. He's certainly not all there yet as he does need to work on his rebounds a bit, not to mention positioning a tad, but all in all he looks the part of a future starter.

I'm sure this has been beaten to death but yikes was that a poor call on Brodz. Can certainly hear a two minute board but it's a tough pill to swallow to kick him out for that. A bit humorous to see Kopitar come out and play the entire major. Granted, he did a appear to try to bit a chunk out of the dasher on the hit... The officials didn't seem too pleased with the him the rest of the way and I'm pretty sure someone would have needed to lop off one of his limbs to draw a call.

Hopefully they can get some guys back into the line-up soon, though. Scrapping the bottom of the barrel right now. Taffe looks just a tad out of place on that top line.

I think we're being mentioned because we've held onto first for long enough and late enough that the "it's a fluke" mentality is dissipating. When we opened up a 3 point lead on first (after jockeying for position for a while) it became apparent that this team wasn't just going to disappear. We might not finish the season in first, but we should make quite a bit more noise down the stretch.

It's also important to note that we're not just barely edging mediocre teams in low scoring games with a single hot goalie. We've scored 4 or more goals in 3 of the past 4 games. The last time we only scored a single goal was 11/17's 1-0 victory over Colorado. In fact, we've only been held to one goal 6 times this season (including two 2-1 shootout wins), and have yet to be shut out.

The "unsustainable goaltending" argument is starting to fade out because we've posted those same "unsustainable numbers" with 3 separate netminders. In fact, Backstrom no longer has a ridiculous save percentage. He's currently tied for his career high. Our team's total save percentage is being buoyed by the fact that our "backup" hasn't been posting a sub-.900 save percentage like most other teams have suffered.

People talk about our "horrible stats" but those are still biased by a bad start to the season. Take our 23rd ranked PP for example: looking at just our percentage from 10/27 (loss to Anaheim that made us 3-3-3) onward, we're at 16.9% which would be good for 17th in the league. Looking at 11/8 onward, we're at 18.5% which would be good for 12th in the league. Cherry picking dates for our 11th ranked PK: since 10/29 we're 89.3% which would be good for 2nd in the league. The same sort of truth can be found with any of our stats. Our stats in the first dozen or so games were so bad that we're still trying to catch up. We have a 2.45 GF/G rating, but we scored only 19 goals in our first 10 games (1.9 GF/G). Taking that out of consideration, we've been scoring at a 2.74 GF/G pace (15th in the league). I don't have any of the "advanced stats" in front of me, but I imagine the same is true of our Fenwick, PDO, Corsi, and omgskyisfallingItotallyjustmadethisstatupbecauseit supportsmyotherwisebaselessclaim.

Great use of stats. We've definitely have had 2 seasons so far. Pre and post 10/27. I expected us to be on the same page around game 30 or so, and it appears Yeo did it in 9. I will continue to be "cautiously optimistic" about our success, but we are definitely trending upward, not downward as so many "experts" keep predicting.

Well the game ended after midnight so in many editions it's "check startribune.com for final."

About the Brodziak call: I think I heard Kurtz say that Yeo was yelling at the refs after the either the next stop in play or at the end of the period, I don't remember. We seemed to have better luck refwise after that.

I think Yeo promptly converted the referees.

Oh he was definitely screaming at the ref and rightfully so. That was by FAR the worst call of the season in any game IMO. Not only did you give a BS penalty, but you kicked the guy out of the game for it too?? Why? Because the hyper-star in a bandwagon city went down? There was no justification for that penalty and why the two refs didn't even talk to one another with the closest telling him "call it a 2min boarding" is beyond me seriously. I didn't know we had NFL/NBA rules that protected the superstars in the league from being breathed on.

And then added insult to injury, Kopitar plays on the PP that he created by being a drama queen love it. You can't make that up. Ref should be fined. Simple.
