it was discussed on the CBC Hotstove last night: http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/CBC.../ID=2173372548

Pretty interesting stuff (pre-playoffs for lower seeds etc). But I agree with Stone Phillips.

It's got to kind of suck to be Bruce Boudreau. Not only is his new team a kind of bird you can eat, but his favorite word rhymes with their name.

December 9th, the Houston Aeros are giving away team branded Snuggies.

http://www.aeros.com/Gameday/news/in...rticle_id=3208

including a laughably photoshopped picture to go along with it. They also don't refer to it as a 'Snuggie', but a 'wearable blanket', perhaps because it's not a Snuggie, but it could also be that a Texan calls it like they sees it.

"Snuggie? Back on the trail, we just call them wearable blankets."

Appropriate, as Houston is considered the fattest city in America, and therefore, probably the world. And fat people are good at insulating heat. I'm not sure why this is necessary.

Also, Stan Drulia got picked up by the Milwaukee Admirals as Asst. Coach after Kirk Muller got hired by the Canes.

Yes, it wasn't hard at all. It's listed under "pressbox"

That's a really hard to find spot for a team's freaking roster.

Why would it be under "pressbox" anyway? That does not seem to hint that the players are somewhere buried in it. If 'pressbox' was labeled "team", my bad, but "pressbox" is something an ******* would put.

The Providence Bruins on the other hand, give you the roster too easily, and it ends up lacking.

Just curious to know what you Bolts fans think being in a division with Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Boston? You and the Panthers of coarse.

I think FP made some good points:

I mean, think with me here. Imagine the time when New York City saw it's massive flood of immigrants from Italy, especially Sicily. Now imagine that the New York team played the Sicilian team on a regular basis. It's good for gate revenue, but it adds nothing to the substance or identity of New York. (...)

Detroit seems to be the troublemaker.

It would all be so much simpler if Detroit would just accept that they are geographically in the western half of the league.

Somebody's gonna get shafted with any realignment where Detroit goes east. In the one above, they don't, which sort of defeats the whole purpose of league realignment.

I think, secretly, the league wants to expand, or they wouldn't even consider uneven divisions.

I'd also add that more 'conferences' and not fewer means more deserving teams get screwed out of playoff appearances because their conference is only 7/8 teams.

Ignoring the scheduling, if they had decided to use this format for last year's playoffs, here's who would have made it. I'm assuming the top 4 teams make it.

Pacific:
1. Vancouver
2. San Jose
3. Anaheim
4. Phoenix
-
5. Los Angeles - 98 pts
6. Calgary
7. Colorado
8. Edmonton

Central:
1. Detroit
2. Nashville
3. Chicago - 97 pts
4. Dallas - 95 pts
-
5. St. Louis
6. Minnesota
7. Columbus
8. 'Winnipeg'

The other conferences aren't anything particularly interesting as this discrepancy between the amount of points earned by the Blackhawks, Kings, and Stars.

Unignoring the scheduling again, there's got to be a crazy unbalanced schedule for things like that to not happen and we've been moving in the right direction IMO, in making sure every team plays every other one at some point of the season.

There's a simple decision that has to be made in this. Either they want the objectively 'best' teams in the playoffs, or they want to do the grab bag approach.

I can see why owners would like this.

If they did this 20+ years ago, putting the Florida teams in with the TOR,OTT,MTL,BUF & BOS, it wouldn't seem so out of place. But this feels punitive. The Lightning have even won the Stanley Cup, but it feels like with the hate we're getting from refs, that we're not supposed to ever do well, and even worse is the idea that we actually need these Canadian teams for some reason. To give us legitimacy, to fill our buildings, or teach us how hockey is played or something. It's rather insulting.

Haven't heard from Gretzky on all of this. Wonder what he thinks, because if he thinks something's not good for the game, the fans definitely listen.

I know I want to be in conference with the best, and that's not the Canadian teams + Buffalo. I want to be able to go in to Boston twice a year and let them know they're never winning another cup. I want to go into Pittsburgh and show them Sid means nothing against the 1-3-1, and I want it to show in the standings with 'Tampa Bay' above all of theirs.

Amusing in a disturbing sort of way. Steigerwald (no, not that one, his brother, also a massive Pens homer) against Lambert of Puck Daddy discussing Ovi's potential steroid use. On right now:

The CBJ's Jeff Rimer is the worst pxp man ever. Here's his pathetic call of a GWG for Nashville tonight.

Then Panthers very well may be the real deal this year. Just shutout the Bruins on their home ice 2-0. Impressive. Good for them and their fans I guess. Maybe they make it into the playoffs and we can sneak in and have a series against them. Would be fun to go to an away playoff game

Rimer while with the Panthers bashed the Fedotenko deal and said the only reason the Lightning did it because they didn't want to pay an expensive entry level contract. Thankfully while we couldn't afford the ELC we could afford Stanley Cup rings.

I am not sure of this has been said or not, but after reading the main boards for a little while (big mistake), I feel like we are definitely one of the most hated teams in the league. What gives for all the hate towards our bolts?

I dont know if the Bolts are the most hated...Bruins and Canadiens perhaps

Tampa fans dont get respect because it is not a hockey town, and many hockey fans around the world think Tampa fans arent knowledgeable enough yet. A bit unfair, but that is the way of things.

Also, NO ONE likes trap teams. hehe
