He will help the PP guys, and if we can get that going, we will a few more games...it addresses a need...we seem to be better at 5 vs 5 and the PK has been good...why such negativity???
I KNOW, the last time we had that amount of negative feedback it turned out to be Gomez, and I don't like the trade.
But I am afraid people will start looking at him searching for his mistakes, rather then looking at what he can offer to this team!
I have a good feeling about it, though i don't like it...
looooooooooooool
& I belive this trade, was a result of the confidence boost PG got from the way eric cole is playing! he feels he need to trust his instincts!
Natey, you said that Josh Gorges has more points than Kaberle, and that's true. But: Travis Moen has more goals than Eric Staal.
What he did or didn't do in Carolina doesn't make a lick's worth of difference. He's still that player that was 13th in scoring for Dmen last year and 3rd in scoring among dmen in the playoffs last year.
So far as I'm concerned he didn't fit with boston, and Carolina just blows: I don't think Kaberle is a different player than he was just last year.
You won't be saying that when we try to fit Price-Subban-Gorges into the Cap next season. Spacek's contract was nice & gone!
I swear some fans have no long term vision, just want now...
thats part of the problem look at things an hour ahead!
will this guarantee habs a n 7th 8th place finsish? who knows !
But thast oprobably the best you will get out of this and that could be a stretch- if your happy with being average and mediocre - then this might be the deal for you- i say might
At first I was pretty pissed about this trade, but if he is THAT bad he'll likely be sent down to the minors and will sign in Europe or something and not count on the cap. Subban has struggled on the PP mainly because every time he has a one timer chance he has to stop the puck before shooting, Kaberle is a very good passer so hopefully we'll be able to see some of the Subban one timers we saw in the second half of last year with Wiz setting up PK. Just glad we didn't give up any prospects or picks to get him.
i think he's the kind of guy who has to adapt to the team before being productive...
He's gonna have a rough start with the team people will hate him and then... 4 months later he's going to be helpfull and his next two year will be what's make that trade good... He never had enough time with carolina or boston to pick up his game to the level it can be...
I'm pretty confident he will do it with the habs... The thing is... Maybe not right now but I like our combo of veteran with young player...
Another bet in the trade is that, if kaberle performed well! it can inspire gomez to play well! If gomez didn't perform within his last chance, I am 100% sure he'll be put on waivers, to clear some space on the cap.
I've made a few jokes about this trade but I didn't really give my thoughts on it. It took me a while to digest it.
My spin on Gauthier's thinking
1) One way or another Gomez will not be here next year. Either he got word from Molson that if he's unable to trade him by the end of the season, he'll allow a buy=out or a promotion to Hamilton.
2) Or Gauthier figures he can probably trade Gomez because of the pay-out versus cap hit. And if he isn't able to trade him then look at option 1.
3) Gauthier looked Kaberle's stats and took a calculated risk and hopes he's getting the Kaberle of a year or two ago - someone who was compared to a healthy Markov.
4) Offensively he's better than Spacek, althought Space goat is better defensive. It's a trade off that Gauthier is willing make.
I think this is trade that can turn out to be a great trade at best and at worst it's a lateral trade.

Markov Emelin
Kaberle Campoli
Gorges Subban
Diaz Weber Gill
LOL and now the excuses are starting to creep out already !! LOL
your not sure on this deal are you?? Next season?
Campoli and Markov are weeks away and Subban needs the experience.
The biggest need is getting Gomez off the team.
Campoli and Markov in the same breath when talking about a PP QBs is beyond ridiculous. Subban won't lose any PP time at all unless the plan is to have Gorges - Kaberle at the points...
