I guess we better get used to hearing that quote a lot over the next few weeks about Sauer..
Typical Rangers BS. I don't expect him back until 2012-2013...
I expect this simply means the experts have not completed a full evaluation and therefore have not released a prognosis. Additionally, it's a concussion which makes it a vague condition to measure in recovery time. While "day to day" suggests he could come back any time now (in theory he could), I agree "Out Indefinitely" is the more accurate wording in this case. We have no idea how severe of a concussion it was. A really really minor one can have you back on the ice in a few weeks.

That seems a bit extreme. Certainly he could be out for the season...but he could be back next week. I think it's more likely that the reality is somewhere in the middle.
Much like Staal it's now a waiting game. They should just shut him down completely until he's healed.
The concussion list this year is ridiculous already with Ryan Miller, Mike Richards, Pronger, Schenn, Alfredson, LeTang, Nino, etc.
I don't think they're up this year. I just think theres more awareness. Makes you wonder how many guys knowingly or unknowingly played through concussions in years past.
He is one of those guys where if you are watching your team play him, you are much more likely to go "Agh, our offense sucks" than you are "That Sauer is a machine."
Completely understandable because he doesn't put up points and is far from flashy.
Maybe, but other top-notch defensive defenseman are recognized and trumpeted for their abilities; I mean, look at Scotty Hannan. Sauer is better than him; currently much better. It just shows a lack of NHL knowledge, Sauer is a legitimate top-4 defenseman at the age of 23/24, this is a player who should be getting attention regardless of their point totals, IMO, or at least be known.
“I’ll never do this celebration again. It’s a good lesson for me,” he said, adding this will not stop him from celebrating goals altogether. “I’ll do some different stuff I have in my pocket. No more shooting, though.”
This is the same guy who sat delirious in the postgame locker room on Nov. 9 in Ottawa, wearing the Broadway Hat after recording two assists in a 3-2 Rangers win. In the company of teammates, team employees and local media, Anisimov tilted his head back and yelled in broken English: “I’m so excite!”
I think to a certain degree the Canadian based press are more interested in pimping their own players rather than the ones south of the border.
Then you have the notion that NY is buying the team much like they used to do. This is probably a combination of Richards choosing NY and that NY has been guilty of this in the past. Lets look no farther than Wade Redden eh ?
Add to it the lack of statistical diligence such as the GAA, blocked shots, overall age of the blueline in rangers land.
Sauer has been excellent. I think the hip surgery he had really helped shape his game. By avoiding injury he got his shot at the pro level, didn't drop the ball nor get hurt. Combined with the fact that he fit what NY was looking for which was a physical 2nd pairing guy.
I hope he isn't hurt too badly and that the Crosby situation has most clubs or their players NOT rushing to return to the rink.
I guess we better get used to hearing that quote a lot over the next few weeks about Sauer..

This is likely the case, I agree with everything here.
I'm guessing they have a multistep testing program on every concussion. I know in Sweden there is one, which leads to: every case where there is/could be a concussion leads to at least 5-6 six days of precautionary tests before returning. No risks are taken whatsoever, which of course is the only way to do it.
What I'm trying to say is that, even if Sauer right now is showing signs of being fully recovered , I'm guessing he still will be out until mid next week.
Are we going to be hearing any updates on Sauer any time soon (like within the next few months) or will this be another MSG hush hush job?
Btw- With Stralman in his place not only are we worse defensively but we are MUCH softer.
NYR is not that much worse Defensivly and in toughness, relax, stop being a drama Queen.
But this is why Sauer didnt go in Round 1 like he could have..Because he is known to be injured often.Hes a hit or miss,on his game amazing and will be a top 4 daman his career if he can stay healthy.Or he can just find his way out of the league soonr than later cause he is injured too much to often.
Im a fan of him.My favorite ranger along with Prust..Hoping he can stay healthy more often than not.
