you get amnesty on only one player if im not mistaken, so turiaf is going to have to be dealt..

Why do i have the feeling that its not that they are having trouble trading turiaf but its that they are delaying the signing now that the Paul trade has been Vetoed by the Nba.

Even if the three teams are back in trade talks, i have a feeling the knicks have something up there sleeve

Chandler is a really nice addition for Knicks. A big man that they lacked last year. Big body that is good defensively and will chip with some offense, will give you a double-double a night (or thereabouts) and his addition slides Amare to his natural position.

Nene is a better player than Chandler however Chandler makes more sense with this Knicks team than Nene. Knicks have offense with Amare and Melo, what they lacked was a 7 footer who will rebound, play D, bang bodies, do all the dirty stuff etc. Really good addition.

Chandler is better than Nene imo.

Nene is better offensively but Chandler is the better defensive player.

Chandler is probably a top 5 C.

Howard
Bogut
Noah
Bynum
Chandler or Marc Gasol

After that it's a big drop off. imo

There's not that many good centers.

IMO Chandler is part of the bigger drop off after Marc Gasol.

He's better than a lot of centers though. Also Brook Lopez has to be there.

IMO Gasol and healthy Kaman are better than Chandler. Maybe Brook Lopez but he's a different sort of a fish compared to Chandler.

Deff a top 10 center. But the thing is this league doesn't have any great centers, besides Howard and Bogut.

The important thing is that he's the second best center in the league when it comes to defense and rebounding. He's an ideal fit with Amar'e and Melo.

Brook "Im 7 feet tall but yet i dont even average 6 rpg" Lopez better then Chandler? definitely not..

Its like saying Fowler is a better defenseman then Girardi just by looking at Fowlers Offensive production and stats...

Chandler is one of my fav big men in the league. Just love his athleticism, rebounding, and defensive ability, and doesn't need the ball on the offensive end to be content. I'll be very happy if we sign him and can get some kind of guard with ability.

Shoot first PG and a ballhog. Not sure that B-Diddy would mesh too well with Melo and Amare. JMO anyways.

The only places Chandler is more valuable than Nene are teams like Dallas, New York, and other teams with high scoring tall forwards who need help with defense and boards. Nene is always more valuable to everyone else. He has a wide and varied skillset in the post; Chandler's offense is almost exclusively alley oops and put backs. Big men with an offensive game are HIGHLY valued.

Taking injuries into consideration, ranking the centers:

1) Howard

2) Bynum
3) Marc Gasol
4) Nene
5) Bogut
6) Noah
7) Chandler
8) Kaman

Oden would be around there if he ever got healthy. I don't really consider the likes of Duncan, Al Jefferson, or Pau Gasol to be centers, BTW.

If you take injuries into consideration you cant put Bynum 2nd

Duncan plays with his back to the basket. I consider him a center for all intents and purposes.

Sure you can. Offensively, he's simply better than all of those other centers

I'm not really sure what that means. Most of the best power forwards in the history of the sport did, too. Duncan's style has more in common with those players. On defense, you wanted him guarding top opposing power forwards.

Bibby is done. This isn't 2002 anymore.

He was awful last year with Miami. He could hit the 3 which is why he'll probably be here because of Pringles. He better not start though.

I just generally think of guys who play with their backs to the basket as centers, whether they're technically classified as centers or not.

Eh...different types of post games. Duncan has spent at least half of his career starting at PF next to seven-footers starting at C. Depending on the matchup, he might guard the center and be guarded by the center, or instead deal with the PF.

His post game, his skills...he has more in common with a Malone than he does an Olajuwon or a Ewing.

Knicks trades are complete. It's a 3-team deal w/Dallas and Washington. NY sends Turiaf, 2013 2nd-rd pick and cash to Wizards.

Knicks acquire Chandler, plus rights to Ahmad Nivins and Giorgos Printezis. Mavs get Andy Rautins and protected 2012 2nd-rd pick from Wiz
-per Beck on twitter.

Hmmm... I don't get it. Must have to do with the new CBA, but if you're doing a S&T with Dallas, why do you need to move Turiaf? And Turiaf is a serviceable player on a not-too-terrible contract. Why do you need to pay cash (something you can only do once per year under the new rules) and a 2nd (as if we hadn't given up enough picks already) to get WSH to take him?

I mean, at the end of the day, I'm not complaining, because the team comes out with Chandler and the roster is rock solid, but for the question of PG. But still... seems like we wasted assets unnecessarily, no?
