I'm actually in the middle of going back and playing the final fantasy games that I never played before. Working on 8, 9, and 12. Playing 12 right now. It's not too bad. The combat system that is supposed to be more free actually feels more restrictive though.
Doesnt the new FF come out in less then 2 months? Im pretty pumped.
January 31st for North America. I haven't been paying much attention to it until recently when I started reading a lot more about it. It sounds awesome.
I hope the combat system is a little more interactive in terms of utilizing your entire party yourself. In FF13 I felt like I was just some overlord looking down on the battlefield and giving the party strategies on what to do, but not really playing the characters directly myself. I still had fun with the game, but it's definitely not the greatest combat system.
I really liked the 13 combat system because it was active and automated the same-old same-old that I've been doing for 17 years now. If you're playing that game properly, by the later chapters you're switching your paradigms every 12 seconds. That's way more active than they had been for a while. Also, putting together your 'deck' of paradigms was pretty interesting too, more strategy than maybe anything since junction.
For some really strange reason, I keep getting about 2 hours into FF XIII and then I stop and play something else. It's fun to play, I'm liking the story, the graphics are excellent, seems like it's a game I should love but I've played up to the 2 hour mark about 4 times now and the same thing keeps happening...
Love the series, I think this was the first Rpg games I ever played.
Though I greatly dislike FFX-2, and FFXIII. Can't say anything about XI or XIV, apparently the latter is supposed to have a port being made tbr in 2013, seems unlikely.
I actually loved the combat system in FF13. It was the only thing that kepts me playing it for the amount of time I did because I really wasn't at all interested in the story and I found the characters to be annoying.
FF10 is one of my favorite games of all time. That, Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim are probably the few non strategy or sports games that I played obsessively. Auron is still one of my favorite video game characters of all time.
