Unfortunately they never won the big one.

No love for the Kanter pick? I was hoping for one of the big two but I'll make due with this mysterious project pick

We'll just have to build the team old school style with picks and stuff. We got bigger through the past few years too.

Whatevs, haven't been big into the NBA since the stockton-malone days. I mean where could we have gone without Ostertag

You got to feel bad for the Blazers. First Roy has to retire, then news come out that Oden suffered another setback and Aldridge just had a heart procedure and will miss some weeks.

I'm a Knicks fan and I like the Bulls

.....but saying I'm a Knicks fan is basically the extent of my fandom. I'm not a huge NBA fan anymore.

Orlando GM Otis Smith told @JoshuaBRobbins today that Howard has asked for a trade. Sources tell Y! Sports that request is for the Nets.

And 31/31 teams in the NBA and the fans feel the same way about the Heat.

I hope the Nets don't get Howard and fail miserably in Brooklyn. Yes, I'm bitter.

The only reason he wants to come to the Nets is for Brooklyn. But that shouldn't be a shock to anyone.

CP3 trade to the Lakers is dead according to sources. And they are shifting to make a deal for Howard.

God please no. NJ time to get this deal done, now.

Not sure if Howard is worth it. Lopez and 2 firsts is a lot. This years draft is also really deep. If they signed Nene and moved Lopez to PF they'd be a much better team. And then in the summer draft Harrison Barnes.

Of course this team will lack stars but I think it will be more complete.

I would say the primary reason is to play with Deron Williams, but the Brooklyn/face of the franchise kind of thing definitely help. I really don't see anywhere he could go where he could end up playing with a PG on the level of Deron Williams. I don't see how any team can get him and Paul, and Chicago isn't giving up on Boozer/Noah, so they're not in the mix. After that, its hard to find any player who is a better match for him.

It's a star-driven league. He's totally worth it. The Nets have a top 3 PG who may or may not stay. You have the chance to acquire a top 3 big man, which will probably be more than enough to convince each of them to stay for a long time. Howard is a double double machine, a top defensive player, no injury history, and only 26 years old. Money/what it costs to acquire them aside, what big man in the NBA would you rather have than him on your team? Lopez is young, but has underachieved greatly. He is not a presence on the defensive glass, and he needs to shoot at a better percentage than he does for his game. Sure, in general two 1st rounders are a big deal, but you have to think about how much better the team will be after acquiring Howard. If they are Nets picks (and not ones acquired from other teams), they would likely go from lottery picks before the trade to somewhere in the low 20s after the trade. Of course it varies by draft class and your scouting ability, but for the most part you're drafting rotation players at that point unless you get someone who really pans out. It's not like they're trying to acquire a 33 year old center. This is a guy who (as scary as it sounds) is in the beginning of his prime.

I really loved the Kanter pick too. Although I'm a Kings fan, I've always loved watching the Jazz. They usually draft pretty good too. I guess we can join in on our hate for the Lakers

Did Derron Williams demand a trade from the Nets or not? I've hard conflicting reports. If he did, that would be pretty bad in my opinion. He didn't even give them a chance

Where did you see this because I've never seen anything that said he has demanded a trade.

Yeah, he definitely did not demand a trade. You may be mixing it up with Dwight Howard, who allegedly demanded a trade to the Nets. It's known he demanded a trade, but whether or not he was as specific to say the Nets, and not really include other teams is the part I would be skeptical on. No chance Williams demanded a trade because he has no need to. He's already said he'll opt out (so he can earn more money in FA than by signing an extension). If he wants to be traded, he will be prior to the deadline by telling the Nets there is zero chance he'll re-sign. No reason for him to demand a trade now while his current team is one of the front runners for Dwight Howard according to the reports that are out there.

Lopez and 2 1sts is absolute chump change.

I don't understand why anyone thinks NBA 1st rounders carry any value. Unless they're top 10 picks, 1st rounders are so beyond overrated.

Look at the 1st round in any draft in the last 10 years. There's a handful of superstars (90% taken in the top 10) and then a bunch of crapshoots, busts, and decent role players. Hell, even top 10 picks aren't overly special. Usually only 50% of top 10 picks pan out. The best was the Lebron year when he, Wade, Bosh, and Melo were all taken. I'm pretty sure the next best pick in that draft was David West, and then after him it was Kirk Hinrich.

I'm willing to bet that of the three assets being proposed to Orlando, Lopez is the best player out of all of them. I think he's a very good player, but it's the best center in the league by a mile.

Plus, the two 1sts are from the Nets and Rockets I believe. The Rockets are a decent team and the pick is lottery protect, and the Nets with Williams and Howard aren't finishing worse than maybe 24th overall pick.
