Here is the thing guys, although Gaborik is a bit faster in terms of acceleration, Hagelin can do what he does longer. He is a little pinball who will get less minutes as a 3rd liner than Gaborik, has great fitness and as such can streak around the ice indefinitely.

Kreider on the other hand uses his speed maybe 2 times a game. Tortorella is going to have a lot of work to do on this kid once he gets his hands on him, because York has no idea how to coach a proper NHLer.

Here is my analysis:

Gaborik has that extra gear he can shift into at will, where as Hagelin is faster, but more constant. Starting from standing still, I have Gaborik by a hair, as that extra gear he has puts him ahead. But Hagelin's speed is no joke. Just wait until next year when we have the "Hagelin vs Gaborik vs Kreider in a race....who wins?" thread.

I generally agree with this. I think Gabby can probably get to his top speed faster, but once Hagelin gets to his, I think he'd have an edge.

ok perhaps kreider is that bit faster

Yea, depends on distance. If it is like a 10 lap race around the rink, I got Hags. If it is like a 2 lap race, I got Gabs

He is.

If Gaborik is an F1 race car, Kreider is an F22 Raptor.

My favorite word to describe Kreider is Ferrari. A horse on wheels.

He will be the fastest NHL player once he gets here, no doubt. Kreider has G force in his skates

Hagelin, but Gaborik has elite acceleration. Best in the league.

How have people never seen Kreider play? He's been on TV at least 20 times (WJC and BC) and all the WJC games are streamed online.

Pure straight ahead speed: Kreider > Gaborik > Hagelin

Player who utilizes speed the best: Hagelin > Kreider > Gaborik

Id really like to watch Hagelin or Gaborik skate against Shani Davis on a speed skating track for 500 meters. One where they both wear hockey gear, one with speedskating gear and one where they can use whatever they want.

No joke, I wondered if Kreider was on fast forward. Then I looked at the other guy, and he seemed to be in normal mode. How do human legs move like that? Is his dad a cheetah?

Really the thing that caught my eye was not the speed that his legs moved, but the amount of power he got in each stride.

Folks can move their legs that fast. But Kreider's legs must have an incredible amount of muscle to be able to get that kind of push off of strides in that quick a motion. Unreal.

Gaborik > Hagalin Not by much. NHL Players voted Gabby the fastest skater.

Hagalin is probably top 5 in the league though, he has some jets.

Kreider is not in the NHL so its silly to compare him. He looks like lightning on ice vs NCAA players. I'd rather wait to see how fast he is vs NHL players.

Forget just speed. Am I the only one who is truly in AWE over what Hagelin has done so far?

A guy who barely cracked the top 10 in our prospect list? 6 points in 8 games and is a + 6.

Not saying he is going to be a future 1st liner or anything but as of right now all bets are off for any prediction of Hagelins capabilities.

Between the two, I would say Hagelin.
Between Kreider, Hagelin, and Gaborik the winner is Chris '"Speedy Gonzales" Kreider

That's not a good example to use because that was my cell phone filming off my TV and it doesn't look real time when you view it....

Try this one instead:

Not in awe, but he's been great.

One thing I know is that at worst he's going to be one hell of a third liner. I can see him becoming this team's best defensive forward in no time.

Of course I'm hoping he'll take on a bigger role (top 6), but even if he doesn't I won't exactly be sad. What I'm seeing from his is already more than I ever expected

I don't believe anyone can say with any certainty without seeing these guys on the ice together or at least having them do a race when they're on the ice together practicing.... Speed is dimensional.... Gaborik probably has the best explosiveness in terms of his first 3 strides... Hagelin is a very, very efficient & smooth skater.... Kreider is pure power in his legs/strides and he's very physically mature & strong....

Can't say who is the best at what but there's no denying the Rangers will be a harder team to compete against when the day comes that all 3 of these forwards are in our line-up.
