Pretty much the opposite of everything Murray is, which is great. Almost too obvious for Lombardi to do

Here are a couple guys I wouldn't mind seeing

Craig MacTavish
Joe Paterson (Coaching Adirondack, coached Sault St. Marie, former Kings)
Igor Larionov
Tony Granato

maybe you roll the dice on guys like

Mark French (Current coach of the Hershey Bears)
Brent Thomspon (Former Kings, coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, ECHL coach of the year last year)

good minor league coaches.

To me this is a crutch.

Who's to say the defense won't stay the same? We have a great back 6 and two fantastic goalies...a system change might not kill the defense at all.

I mean these guys are already standing on their heads to try and win us damn 2-1 and 1-0 hockey games. They would probably welcome more offensive risk taking so it isn't always on them.

I feel so bad for Quick and Bernier this year...you play good games...or give up maybe 1 soft goal and because this team is so bass ackwards on offense...you sunk the game at 1-0 2-1

There needs to be a balance of scoring/defense.

Look at teams like Chicago..give up lots of goals...score lots of goals. Top of the conference. Minny. They have less talented and gifted forwards then we do...and they have 79 goals for and 64 against.

There is a balance that can be found...but we have a stubborn **** coach who just says the same rhetoric "I need more from player xxx" instead of thinking...hrm....maybe I should adjust my system to the players rather then take proven goal scorers and make them stand on the ****ing halfwall with their ***** to the net.

That's a good list...sans MacTavish. That guy is all kinds of wrong for the Kings.

We talk about the system and Xs and Os but as bad as it sounds Im not so certain we wouldnt get better results with a coach that has no system at all and simply tell the players to go out, have fun, and play hockey. Wish I could say I was joking about this but Im 110% serious.

Why am I not surprised that no balls Lombardi hasn't fired Murray yet. At this point, I'm starting to hope that Deano gets the boot as well.

I think 3 or 4 years of a team having top 10 defensive numbers is proof enough. You can credit it that to murrays system...or you can say...yea we have some pretty damn good defensemen. Which we do. And 2 great goalies to boot.

Granato is my #2 choice.

my #1 choice. don't know much about this guy, but THIS is the type of resume you look for in a new and upcoming coach. consistently producing results each level up he goes. the most impressive is what he accomplished last season with WB. the PIT roster decimated with injuries called on the AHL club all season. with huge roster overturn this guy goes out to a 58-21 record. that is a guy that gets everything out of his players.

Wow, I had no idea that Joe Paterson was a coach. He really wasn't much of an nhl player but he had heart and some fight in him. Good for him!

What is the fascination with Larionov with you guys on the board? I haven't followed or read anything about him so, I could easily be missing the obvious, but enlighten me, if you will.

He was a very smart player but I don't see much of a resume in regards to coaching.

I like Tocchet and Granato with their intensity and raw emotions.

Definitely don't want another zombie coach.

Larionov is kind of a dream I think...like getting Parise..I think your choices of Tocchet and Granato are much more realistic.

And I like the idea of some fire behind the bench.

John Hynes

The AHL coach of the year for 10-11.

Quote:
In just his first year as a head coach, Hynes has led the Penguins to the best record in the league, as well as the best record in franchise history. Couldn't have happened to a greater guy. The players bought into him from day one and clearly it has shown.

Hynes has led the Pens to the best record, but not without any bumps along the way. At times up to seven of his top forwards were unavailable due to injury or recall but that didn't stop Hynes from adapting to his new players and getting the most out of them while they were in the AHL.

He's young, relatively new, and because he coaches the Penguins AHL affiliate, I believe he runs a similar system to Bylsma.

I'm on board, he sounds great, we'll take him. At this point any name suggested I'll say yes to. Doesn't matter if they are in hockey or not the answer is yes.

Would the penguins let him go mid-season? I could see Stevens used as an interim coach and Dean wil go after a new coach after the season.

And therein lies the dilemma.

Everyone keeps screaming for TM to be fired, but you actually have to have someone to put in his place. Most of the good coaches out there are currently employed.

And I don't like Stevens. He'd just be more of the same. If we're going to change coaches we need fresh blood in order to spark the team. I'm not a huge fan of Carlyle, but he'd be a convenient hire on an interim basis.

Is everyone missing the fact that Muller was the head coach of the Preds AHL team before the Canes hired him?
