So, that's why the Kings were talking to Gretzky

I'd throw myself off a bridge. Crap, just thinking about that almost gives me a heart attack.

I just don't understand why they would take him on the road. They could have canned him and made Stevens or even Morris the interim for now.

Bernie Nicholls! Obviously that legends night was just to introduce fans to their new coach. Dean you sly dog, such a flair for the dramatic

Interesting. Who could that be?
Players? That'd be my guess. I doubt they'd want their name linked to a leak, but they are some people who might get wind of it and also know Helene.

I suspect that the guys DL really want are with other teams and those teams won't let them go mid-season. Such as Boughner or Hynes. As such, DL might just bring in Stevens and tell him he has until the end of the season to convince him that Stevens is the right guy. If not, someone else is coming in. The hiring of Muller from the Nashville organization was actually pretty rare for a team to let an employee go mid-season to join another team. This is doubly so if anyone DL wants is from within the conference.

If TM is gone, then it's about time. that said, I will say thank you. I have never thought TM was the guy to take us to the promised land, but TM did get us more stable after the Crawford gongshow we had for two years. TM should have been hired when we hired Crawford, as he was a great positive influence on the younger players. But at this point, he's not the guy we need. We can't score, we are on pace to not even make the playoffs, and both of those scenarios are getting worse by the game. Thank you Terry Murray for all you gave this team, but it's time for a change. Best of luck to you and congratulations on a hockey career many of us would envy. Hopefully you achieve whatever you want to achieve in your future endeavours.

They need to tighten up on the leaks, I can't see how they don't fire him tomorrow, are they going to hope Murray doesn't read the paper?

This is a good question, have they left for the road trip?

Isn't it that as long as it's a promotion, teams are usually willing to let guys go even mid-season? Maybe I have things wrong here, but I thought if an assistant coach got a head-coaching offer teams would nearly always let him go?

Could be a last ditch motivational tactic. Maybe Deano's the leak? :p

They probably already fired him and will just make it official tomorrow. Stevens will come in and hopefully it will just be a short stint.

Tactic? All of a sudden Murray is going to be the coach that the Kings need? That would be stupid.

I wouldn't put it pass Dean though. Pft.

Not mid-season no, especially not from the NHL team (assistant coaches). I can't recall a team letting its assistant coach go mid-season to join another team. Farm team coaches are a bit different, but even then, it'd likely only happen if it was an eastern conference team let their farm coach go to the western conference, or vice versa. Like Nashville and Carolina with Muller.

Not to mention the difficulty filling the spot mid-season.

This wouldn't shock me. DL's been suspected of doing this before.

He's won a trophy or two in the past...and knows how to open up the offense.

LOL kind of looks like Pavel Bure.

I don't have it in me to gloat over the firing of Terry Murray.

That feels like firing up a barbecue outside the walls of a prison where someone's being executed. I could never do it.

Do the deed, get it over with. Install the new coach. Put this underachieving roster immediately on notice. Any player who still can't get it promptly in gear under the new regime needs a swift ticket out of town.
