As for Iginla, every team would want him but what we would have to give up, I will pass.
Scott Hannan, we just got Kaberle today and I would prefer to give our younger blueliners more opportunities to play, so again, pass
Umberger, I've liked this guy for years now and I think he would be a good fit in Montreal, I would pull the trigger on this one if the price is right and we aren't giving up too many valuable assets
Umberger, Huselius and Tyutin were the players.Tyutin won't be necessary now with Kaberle deal done.Umberger with others for Gomez would probably be the return but who are the others.Unless the Habs are sending Weber then Umberger, Tyutin,Huselius could still be the deal. All we can do is wait for the coin to drop, lots of coin there.
seriously, the more i think about it, the more i am inclined to think that plekanec is better for us than staal would. plekanec > staal.
plek does all the things staal doesn't do and has similar production and a much, much better contract. the only thing staal has over gangsta is his size and that he likes to throw it around.
besides, if he really was available, i would expect burke to have an aneurysm trying to get him
Plekanec does so many things for the Habs it would be crazy to let him go. He isn't one to take games off either. Would be a hell of a duo do if we would get Staal without moving Pleks, a 1-2 punch would be sweet
Weber for Brandon McMillan or Linus Omark. Young players with useful skills, struggling to hold jobs in their respective lineups. Dman for winger.
Weber has more value than those guys IMHO. I think on a team with less depth in skilled d-men he would be a #4 or 5 and get lots of PP time. If MAB can get a regular shift Weber no doubt will, plus he is a lot younger, bigger and better defensively.
Is Y. Weber really that bad in his own end? I was under the impression he was capable of running a PP and had a howitzer from the point.
Pens could use a guy like him to settle our PP down and have a legit point shot for once. But if he's not cracking your lineup, I'd imagine there's a reason.

I agree with some of what Yarfangor said.
I'd add that at this point he's a young, bottom pairing dman, and the Habs have a surplus of these. Martin clearly prefers Diaz at this point.
I wouldn't say Weber is "capable of running a PP" - he's more of a trigger man, I don't think you want him being the main puck distributor, IMO he doesn't have that kind of creativity. But he does have a very good shot, and knows when to use it. Like many shooters, especially young ones, he's streaky. I imagine he'll get more consistent with time.
Do not want Eager. Guy who has been shipped off two teams in the past year for costing them games with ridiculously dumb penalties (one being a play off game) not a good match with Jacques Martin. Or really with any competent coach who wants to win...
