I was saying they should sit him one game to be completely sure it is not a concussion and no new symptoms show up. I know they can do tests and so forth, but it wouldn't hurt to keep him out.
Keeping him out can throw him for his game permanently. Some players work that way.

Your friend is definitely full of crap.

I had a back problem and had to deal w/ Penn's neurology department. All of their best neurosurgeons work out of the Penn neurological institute near Washington Square.

If Giroux had a legit problem w/ a concussion, that's where he'd be, not U of P hospital. Plus they have a bunch of CT scan machines, MRIs, etc. there and it's wayyyy more discrete.

Plus there's the fact that it's been widely reported that Giroux drove himself home last night.

So I mean, yeah, I call BS on your friend.

I don't know what Hospital/Doctors the Flyers use, but Jefferson Neurology is one of the best in the country. I would've thought they'd go there instead, but that's just pure speculation. If somebody knows otherwise, correct me.

I would agree that would be my hospital of choice in the Philly area for any type of brain problems, but since the guy specified that his friend from Penn said he was at UofP hospital, I was just saying how unlikely that was. Like I said, in the UPenn hospital network, the best neurosurgeons work out of a private building right next to washington square... they don't actually work out of the UofP main hospital building.

And if you have surgery scheduled, they do it at Pennsylvania Hospital (which is in the same general vicinity as their neurological center).

So the odds of Giroux being @ the U of P main hospital are HIGHLY unlikely. It makes no sense. Both in terms of logistics (since the best doctors don't have offices there) and in terms of being discreet (the neurology building is much smaller, is on a side-street, and has a private entrance so nobody would even see Giroux entering / exiting).

Like I said, definitely a fabricated report.

This is what I am saying. I hear too often of players who say they have no symptoms just to get back into the lineup. If he medically checks out fine, then let him back. I don't trust the players' judgement in these issues.

Best of luck guys, I really hope Giroux is ok! He's the 2nd best player in the world IMO and I hope his rise to prominence as an upper elite player this season continues.

not yet most likely after practice at 11. Or he could be out there for practice and we would definitely know he is improving and not feeling any side affects from the hit.

Let's hope so. The collision looked like what happens to about 8 guys on every NFL rushing play....

Yea, no matter the helmet type, the forced experienced by the brain are just as bad.

Aren't some people more prone to concussions than others?

That's probably because they are going to re-evaluate him today

Are you sure it's a good idea to let him play Tuesday? With Ovechkin going head hunting and all?

He's got no problem dodging Russian blows (see Malkin).
It is just his own teammates he needs to watch out for.

Well Giroux is at the flyers practice in street clothes. The big test will be whether he makes the trip with the team or not to Washington. I have a feeling he goes and plays. That's at least what i'm hoping for!

I have a friend at Jeff. About a year ago he was doing his brief stint at neurology at Jeff. Said he met a Flyer (he did not know who) and that part of that floor is littered with autographed Flyers things / photos with the staff.

Doesn't mean he went there-- but they definitely use Jeff.

Yep, Heres another quote

Per Homer, Giroux feeling better...will be reevaluated tomorrow. Won't travel to WSH. Looks like Couturier centers Harts and Jagr.
