Lindback

Where do you think he will be at in 2 years or earlier? Starter somewhere or still backing up Rinne?

Devils. Never thought about that but if you think about it seems like a good fit

no way does he languish here. he could start on several teams now.

ever since Rinne signed long term I(and others) have projected Lindback as the centerpiece of a trade for Parise

(a man can dream....)

Defiantly has the potential to be a legitimate starter in this league. Just depends on when Poile is going to pull the trigger. There are a few teams out there that could use a young goalie with potential. (Tampa, NJ, Calgary, etc)

I'm thinking he's traded in the off season, maybe getting a 1st before the draft.

only if we cant get a player for him now. we are not in rebuild mode, we are in "we need about two pieces to be REALLY good" mode

here is the problem with that-corey schnieder, sergei bobrovsky and jon bernier are also young goalies ready to play and start. And if anyone thinks we are getting a first for lindback, you are crazy. I think the reason you don't see these young goalies moved is because teams can't get what they are worth since goalies are cheap.

Lindback will start eventually. He's needs some more playing time so other teams can see him more, imo.

Agree with both. Lindback doesn't have much value except as a throw-in in a bigger deal. He needs more playing time and a proven track record to get teams seriously interested. I'd rather just hold on to him for as long as we can as insurance in case Rinne goes down, or until Hellberg is ready. I don't believe Jeremy Smith will be an NHLer.

he had a solid run last year when rinne was out and I suspect GM's are probably drooling over his size.

yes there are other good young goalies who may become available but I would say if you are trading for one to be your long term starter getting one from the preds system would probably be a top option...

Im not saying Lindback alone gets us a big name but if there is a team that is in rebuild mode that has a star forward that they would like to trade for a young goalie plus defensive prospects, I'd say we can offer the best combination of those two of anyone around.

The above scenario would be most likely New Jersey(Parise, assuming they know they cant sign him) or Calgary(Iginla).

why?

mike dunham was better here than nyr
vokoun was better here than florida or now washington
mason was better here than stl, atl, or the peg
ellis was better here than tampa or anaheim

pekka may be the one who would have bucked the trend, but we will not know now. not unless 6 or 20 leave.
