I see he's a RFA at the end of this year still, Murray can always just walk away if he gets a one way deal, can't he?

Nope. His contract is too small to walk away. You can only walk away if the yearly average is more than $1,042,173.

Yay, almost $450,000 bucks. Getting some money freed up to finally complete that waiver hattrick? (I'm looking at you, Antti Miettinen...)

Well, we could also have gotten one in this deal.

Both one-way deals @ $550k, with around $350k for the remainder of the year on each. We're saving the $1.13m remaining of Foster's salary. (And the ~ $40k of Pielmeier's minor league deal - jackpot! )

If I remember correctly, of course. I looked it up to do the math with which I came up with the $430k amount. The respective numbers are just what I think I remember.

You guys just gained some viewers in Kitimat. Rod Pelley is the only Kitimat native currently in the NHL. Decent on faceoffs, OK skater and will drop the gloves when needed. But he won't be more than a fourth liner at best, IMO.

So he`ll play on 3d line for us

But then again, it`s not Randy behind the bench anymore.

Maybe we move Macenauer up to the 3d?

Hopefully the Devils can make good use of Foster. He was worthless here. He started the season injured and never could fit in. It looks mostly like a salary dump from the Ducks perspective. They save money. I doubt that the Ducks are going to see much of either of the players they acquired.

Count me in as someone who thought we lost Palmieri, I nearly tossed my laptop across the room.

You should like Pelley if he gets in the lineup. He won't do much of anything offensively, but he'll give you all he has every shift, play physical, and play decent D. Just don't expect much. Fraser is a pylon, but he hits pretty well and for some reason is really good at defending John Tavares. Nobody else, though.

Sounds like Foster is also a traffic cone. At least he can shoot I guess. Something Pelley and Fraser couldn't do.

Meh that doesn't really bother me. If a player doesn't do well and he's moved it's no big deal. Not when he's been given chances to succeed here. Sutton for example, he was given every opportunity here and he flopped. Does it bother me that he's doing well or better anyway in Edmonton? Not at all. Now when we trade a prospect it makes me nervous (Gardner for example), but it won't bother me at all If foster does well. I actually hope he does. Can't help but root for a guy that had that kind of injury.

Well JFJ didn't do anything for the PK so I guess it helps that. Hopefully Murray will use the $$$ saved, although it wasn't much.

Hehe. I hear he's a really good guy and teammate; he has a lot of friends in town. Don't know what the local arena is going to do with all the signed Pelley Devils jerseys they have, now.

I haven't seen him in action for the Oil but two suspensions and an injury would have tempered any improved play from Sutton!
