AROUND THE LEAGUE:

DECEMBER SCHEDULE:

QUOTES TO NOTE

I think we raised the bar this season. We're not satisfied playing OK and getting a point here and there.
So many players in the room now are challenging each other to be better and we have four pretty good lines out there.
It's a great feeling and I'm happy to see the way we're playing and the way we push ourselves through the ups and downs.
- Henrik Lundqvist

You create matchup problems and it takes a lot of pressure off each other. We've got faith in each other as lines and each line goes out and tries to help.
It's healthy competition and everyone is going to battle to get out there and get ice time.
- Brad Richards

(On B2B success) We have a hard training camp. It's condition-oriented. It's a challenge for them. With the way we always talk about it, it's this is going to pay off.
You can hear me say it between periods in these type of situations. I think the camp has something to do with it.
I'm not sure it's all that for our record in back-to-backs, but it's nice to have that in the back of your mind, that you know what? Our work is going to pay off now.
- John Tortorella

It's his first NHL start and he's backup. We lose.

Hopefully a motivated Richards leads us to victory. 3 in a row would be sweet after losing 2 in a row at home.

I predict Richards to have a very good game. A hat trick and two assists will be fine by me.

You know Richards has never scored a hat trick? That surprised me when I first heard it.

Would be nice, especially with Dallas fans trying to say Mike Ribeiro was better. Cute.

Still sad that Dubinsky is on the 4th line. My ONLY gripe with Torts. Dubi is not a 4th line player.

Neither is Anisimov, but he has played on the 4th line at times. Dubi is getting less minutes, but he's getting those minutes against lesser players, for the most part. He needs to earn his ice time like anyone else. I think he just needs to pot a couple to get his confidence back.

You are when the team is winning with you on the 4th line.

I would dress Avery and put him with Richards. Seriously. For this game only though. Could you understand the motivational factor here? We meet them but once a year - so scratching Avery for Christ here would be DEAD WRONG imo! And THe Garden would LOVE IT!!!
And it would make for great entertainment for HBO if they are still filming - imagine the DRAMA... Richards & Avery side by side against their former teammates - one was kicked off the team under chaos related circumstances and one player who refused to by traded meaning Dallas got nothing in return for one of the leagues most sought after players. Nice story even for those that follow hockey regularly --- they gotta do it!!!

Didn't we face Dallas twice since Avery's 4 point game? It's time to move on from that one game.
