there has been speculation around here that Mark Morris is going to get his shot in LA sooner rather then later. Always has got the most out of whats been given him here in Manchester.

Oh how I grew to hate him. I surely don't miss our "breakouts" which consisted of nothing but homerun passes from goalline to redline.
Yeah, Stevens sounds like a great guy off the ice, but during his time as our head coach he nearly got me evicted for yelling obscenities in the middle of the night. Maybe he's learned a thing or two after being fired here though. Hopefully for the Kings he's done so, even if he's only there as a stop-gap solution.
Can someone fill me in on this cake/ stevens story?
Stevens used to invite the players to his home and everyone had to bring an assigned ingredient and then they would bake a cake together. Done to show that it takes the combined efforts of individuals to create a bigger whole and for team building purposes.
Oh, and by the way, I'm not joking, that really happened.
Edit: Turns out, it didn't really happen. Didn't remember the story correctly.
The Los Angeles Kings have officially sought permission from Calgary to speak with Darryl Sutter as they look for a new coach, a source told ESPN.com Tuesday.
Sutter is still under contract with the Flames after being let go as general manager last season. The Kings asked for permission Sunday, a day before firing Terry Murray.
John Stevens was named interim coach, but general manager Dean Lombardi made it clear on his media call Monday that he was looking at other options.

hmmm, I heard that Stevens got an E-Z-Bake oven for Christmas and wanted to test it out but got a little carried away and ended up making 23 minature cakes for everyone on the team
So, Stevens brought the ingredients himself, it was done at the practice facility, but the players baked it themselves.
Edit: Some further googling tells me, he actually brought a home-made cake to the team (as you claim) as well. Don't know whether there were several cakes or just the one and the media didn't get it straight.

I'm interested in seeing how the Kings will respond. I'm expecting a bump (not that it worked against the Bruins!) with a new voice behind them on the bench in the "Holy crap, we got the coach fired!" kind of way. The Kings are playing way under their talent level.
