Marchand fined $2,500 for slew-footing Niskanen

MolinariPG Dave Molinari
Boston's Brad Marchand fined $2,500 for slew-footing Penguins D Matt Niskanen a week ago. Glad NHL didn't rush into it, or anything.

Didn't know if this was new thread worthy or not, but I figured I'd make one anyway.

That's the max that can be fined under the current CBA. I'm sure more would have been handed out if possible. I didn't expect a suspension, as much as there should have been.

Seriously how is a 2500$ fine supposed to change a players mind?

That's the max fine possible and it pretty much guarantees a suspension if he slewfoots anyone else. Better than nothing...

I could lose that much right now and not blink an eye. How is this supposed to matter to a multi-millionaire?

Yeah that is the important part. It is a notch on the suspension belt for if he crosses the line in any way again. Which knowing him will likely be within a couple of weeks.

The fine is the max allowed.

Why did it take a week? I mean, yeah they had a busy time deciding other penalties, but really?

Also, just like when Neal was fined for his high stick, I'll never understand how some players are fined while others aren't.

Yah but how much allowance for meth and coke does Elmer give you? That makes a difference...

...your mom is really cool. I can't get any kind of allowance for meth. Parents always trying to control me, man!

looks like it, maybe they have a better angle and it shows Rinaldo making body contact? but I doubt it.

"Hi, I'm VP of Player Safety Brenden Shanahan. On Thursday night in Philadelphia, an incident occured between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers. Late in the second period, Flyers forward Zach Rinaldo delivered an illegal check to Penguins defenseman Robert Bortuzzo. Wait a second .. stop the tape. Who? We're wasting time making a video for a couple scrubs that nobody cares about? **** this, I'm going to go hang out at Collie's and play MW3."

As funny as it sounds, it's the truth. How long would Matt Cooke get suspended if he did that to Nugent-Hopkins?
