Agree, Steckel's faceoff work is important in PK situations, Gunnar is Gunnar a rock back there who if we lose for any long amount of time will be felt. It also messes with our defence pairings. Hopefully Aulie is up to playing on the 1st unit, he is the easy plug in based on last year's play.

Hopefully both will be ready to go against the Bruins. Day to day in Leafs land is not always day to day as we know.

Yupp, only odd thing is that Crabb - Colborne- Frattin has probably been our most effective 3rd line yet. And Connolly has looked quite good between Kulie and Mac, and Gusto and Scrivens have held down the fort as well as you can really ask for a 2nd and 3rd stringers. Our team has done a pretty good job minimizing all the damage.

Its what gives most of us legitimate hope for this season over others I think. Long season still but over the previous 5 years it has been the intangibles and how the team has dealt with injuries that have been our true Achilles. I believe that this is the first time where adversity has not equaled a downward spiral.

Not waiver exempt and is the top point producer on a hot marlies team. Not a guy you want to risk losing.

Given our management's interesting idea of "meritocracy", though, a few of those injuries have actually ended up upgrading the team.

Colborne in for Lombo, and Franson in for Komi, to be specific.

heck, arguably even Crabb for Army.

You forgot to replace Rosehill with Brown, which is a pretty significant upgrade.

Perfect hopefully both are back for tomorrow like expected.

Lupul - Bozak -Kessel
MacArthur - Connolly - Kulemin
Frattin - Colborne - Crabb
Dupuis - Steckel - Orr

Phaneuf - Gunnarsson
Liles - Franson
Gardiner - Schenn

Gustavsson

I think you've gotta play Orr for this one.

EDIT - I forgot Grabovski is back.. Don't really know where to put him. Maybe you take Orr out but I still think either Orr or Rosehill need to be in the lineup and I'd prefer Orr.

It must suck for any players to have these kinds of hand/finger injuries

He (Gunnarsson) is wearing a special glove that has the ring and middle finger attached using a piece of protective black plastic. While he said it's not a big deal to play with, it's also clear he hasn't been shooting the puck much of late (and as a result, wouldn't be very valuable on the PP).

It looked like David Steckel needed help getting his skates off today given he's got that broken finger. His hands are pretty beat up.

i heard the announcers say he's something like 35% on the draws since the hand injury (Steckel). seeing as that is his biggest strength to the team, would it not be wise to sit him out and let it heal? just throwing it out there.

A report on the Fan590 today stated both Komi and Lombardi are about 2 weeks out.

Difference of opinion but I prefer Franson. Not to say Komi hasn't exceeded expectations this year (I've definitely warmed up to him) but from what I've seen Franson has been doing a comparable job in our end and clearing the crease with the added bonus of a better first pass and a great shot. Plus he's young and can likely still get better adding extra value to the ice time he gets.

come playoffs perhaps but imo franson >>>> komi. defensively he is pretty close but he adds an offensive element. he is also a fraction of komisareks cost. he has had a less injured history, and is younger.

if burke could move komisarek as a salary dump he would free up a lot of money on our backend. it would be nice to have some cap flexibility to try and take a run at someone legit like parise, or suter should they make it to free agency

komi has been solid for us this season and i was saying it from the start he will be...i was really annoyed and upset that he got injured...felt bad for him but what can we do.

Im not gonna put on a judgement till he hits the 20 game mark thoughé
