Moves Coming?

Two of our best players are out with concussions. Schenn is out with a concussion. Anyone think a move is coming or needed? I was watching the NJ-TB game last night and they said the Lightning signed Annti Mietinen (sp?) and he'll have to pass through waivers in order to play. Not sure if that has already gone through or not, but would there be interest in picking up a guy like that? He's obviously not going to replace Giroux but he wouldn't hurt. If not that do you think they should trade for someone? Ugh.

How many contracts do we have now? Still 49?

No. Without knowing how long these players will be out, I do not think a move is coming, nor do I think one is necessary. Giroux and Pronger could both be back next week for all we know.

I think so. No other moves have been made that I am aware of.

Mietinen was claimed by WPG

Why not wait to see how long Giroux is out? We are currently first in the conference... No need to make a reactionary trade now.

Bummer. I figured someone would take a stab at him, just wasn't sure if he had actually been in the system yet because last night the announcers were saying will have to clear waivers like he didn't get put through yet. I liked him on Minny, was curious why he went to KHL and no NHL teams seemed to be interested.

That looks good to me, and I'd be cool with some other variations, but definitely want all of those guys playing. No need to make any moves. Hell, I really want Wellwood on the roster too, if anything I'd say there still remains a logjam at forward.

Lol, wtf, where the hell have I been??

edit: Just read up on it, wow I totally missed that, had no idea...and now that I'm aware I don't understand it. Well, I'd be glad to slide Wellwood into his spot on the roster I posted...that's ashame though about Nodl, he's a legit NHL player.

double edit: I feel like the most sensible reason for waiving Nodl I can imagine is that they were trying to do him a favor and give him a chance to play somewhere as they were feeling like there was too much of a logjam here. And now we could use him of course...all it took was a couple injuries, too bad we didn't hang onto him.

I don't want to make a move tbh. We have some depth, we can survive. Now if it turns out Giroux and Pronger are out REALLY long term, then that's another story.

Noodle doesn't play for the Flyers anymore.

Sorry didn't see someone already posted it. I don't think we should make a trade at least not yet.

if we make any trade it will be after the holiday trade freeze. then we may have a better feel how long Giroux and Pronger will be out. Until then we can stay the course as they say.

Giving away assets is how we roll.

i think we still need to wait to see how this team performs over the next few games/weeks here.

i think we'll probably see them wait and see how they finish out the month and then see where giroux and pronger are, and go from there.

I'm thinking

Hartnell - Couturier - Jagr

Simmonds - Briere - Read

JVR - Talbot - Voracek

Rinaldo - ? - Harry Z

That top 9 isn't bad. If Giroux isn't out long term I think they can hold the fort, and hopefully Schenn comes back soon I heard he was skating after practice.

probably Wellwood first, if he's healthy. Hopefully Schenn won't be out for too much longer, this is a great opportunity for he and Couturier.

He was after todays practice. It is also a good sign that he traveled with the team for the road trip.. maybe we could see him in Montreal

The more injured players we have the more likely Shelley gets playing time, which is terrible. We better call up someone to replace Giroux since I really don't want to see Shelley get any playing time.

Don't see a move in the near future. Flyers should trade from position of strength. They are deepest at forward and have some forwards banged up, so makes more sense to wait until they are healthier and have extra forward(s) to put in a package for a d-man.

In the meantime, injuries provide good opportunity for players to develop chemistry with different linemates. Also provides showcase for future trade and chance to evaluate forwards to determine who to trade.
