(to post #325) ^ Nah, you're fine. I wanted to attach the proper reference.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holmgren also said the Flyers won't be seeking outside medical personnel for Giroux at this time.

From Dave Isaac's Twitter:

Quote:
Homer: "So much of it comes down to how the player feels and sometimes Claude feels good and sometimes he doesn’t."

I saw that and wondered how everyone on here would react to that. Knowing a lot of people here of course think our doctors are not suitable for the job

The NHL must eliminate the scourge of backchecking.

I don't think anyone really knows, really matter how much he progresses through the next week or so. I'm hoping for a the 27th for a comeback! Fingers crossed

Clement just said that he skated today and started feeling concussion symptoms so they shut him down. But he also said that the symptoms went away after 50minutes. Not sure what to make of it, but I assume it's a good sign they cleared up that fast... or a bad sign he got them just from skating.

I thought he said 15 mins, but its a good sign that the symptoms went away and he was even cleared to skate. Hopefully he gets out there pretty quick, but fully healthy.

That is true. His disposition is permanently like that of an 8 year old who just got yelled at.

To all diehard Flyers fans. As I noted in tonight's game thread..no worries about G and possibly not winning the scoring title. He is going to lead all players in the playoffs and win the MVP. In the meantime he is allowing Couts, Read, Simmonds and the rest of our future to step up and round out their games so that in the playoffs we will be deeper and more experienced. Screw the proverbial wall..these guys will batter through it! Positive thinking! Positive thinking to ward off the bad kharma!

The fact that he didn't get diagnosed right away and the fact that he is skating and his symptoms resolved quickly are all good things. Mild concussions are sometimes diagnosed entirely on symptoms. Baseline testing and all the scans in the world can show nothing while symptoms persist.

From all the things I have read it sounds like he has a mild concussion. My guess is he will be back right around Christmas maybe sooner.

Pens fan here. Hope Giroux heals quickly and well. He's a special player, and it is great to watch him play in person. All the best to him.

This concussion drama is horrible to deal with, so hopefully it is just minor. I look forward to a Giroux-Crosby playoff matchup for years to come!

We really do here and anyone mocking Crosby's injury is an idiot plain and simple. We all hope Crosby comes back strong too, hate to see young stars getting knocked out of the game because of concussions.

Glad they took all the necessary precautions with Giroux and have shut him down. Hopefully he can recovery fully and quickly from this.

Thanks!

It'd be a rediculous shame to lose the talent of a Giroux or a Crosby to this. Those types of players only come around every so often.

Per Timmy P:

CSN Philly.com: http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers...592&feedID=695

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Tim-P...ussion/2/40502

Quote:
GM Paul Holmgren said Claude Giroux has been skating last 2 days and is determined to return to lineup despite concussion.

Has Giroux not heard of Sidney Crosby's trials and tribulations.

Holmgren said he may have to "pull in the reins" on Giroux.

May? No, SHOULD. The Flyers need him healthy for the playoffs. Make it sit and rest and get better.
I guess good in that Giroux must not be feeling that bad... but hopefully he is forced to sit out at least a week

I understand that he should get healthy and all, but man I Absolutely LOVE the fight in this kid. He has IT as plenty have said before. He really just wants to be out there to help his team win and that's the type of players I want on this team! But Giroux settle down and get healthy haha

My thoughts exactly... given his skill, poise, contract, as well as his love of the game and desire to be the best he can be I don't think I'd take any player in the league over G right now. But that being said I'd like to be able to watch him as much as possible for the next decade so he should take a few days off even if he doesn't want to haha. All in all I think this is good news though.

P.S. Thanks MSE never quoted on this site before... forgot to add the link
