It's very love/hate. Many don't like his being undersized on a team with Roy and Gerbe, and he has a habit of trying to be too fancy with the puck when he should be getting shots on net.

Pegula should make them use the visitors locker room until they decide to win at home.

Glad you have Pegula labeled after 9 months as the owner.

Good job, mate.

Once we get a lead, or if it is close late in the game, Ruff seems to want his players to stop forechecking and hang back. They get caught standing still in the neutral zone and not able to help the defence on dump ins. The other team gets a free ride and our offensive players, paid millions to score goals are not given the green light, or not taking it, to pour on the pressure--as I said in another post--I am sick of close games we lose, playing a style our stars were neither drafted for, nor paid the millions they get to do.

I still go back to post-game, after they lost at home to the Bruins a few weeks back and they were as pleased as punch about their effort and let the whole world know it.

That told me a LOT about the mental makeup of this team.

If Jersey gets a point tonight, we are out of the playoff picture.

Maybe these guys will get their heads out of their *****.

Nope it was Stafford's. Just floating along, letting that guy go to the net freely.

Nobody knows which scapegoat to blame. Very reminiscent of the Grags/Leino near-goal in that other home loss (too many to remember which game).

Please watch the replay, I thought so the first time I watched it and was ready to post so until I watched it again. Clearly Stafford's.

Exactly.

That entire goal was two Stafford brain farts. First losing the puck entering the Ottawa zone then not picking up his man in our zone. It was very disappointing since I thought he played well today.

Roy was doing what he was supposed to, staying with his man Spezza.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive Stafford was on the far point and between the faceoff dot and hash marks on the far side (near side of far faceoff circle).

EDIT: I am wrong, I only noticed at the very end of the play where now i see that was just Stafford being out of position and Roy creeping down from Spezza at the point.

My apologies.

Ruff, in his presser which could have been any presser since 2008, said it was Stafford's guy.

They're going to keep dropping games and fall out of the playoff race. Something has to be done to spark this team and just having guys come back from injury isn't likely going to do it. I'm one of the few people left who hasn't said fire Lindy but it's going to have to come down to that or a fairly large trade.

The Good-
Miller
Ehrhoff
Ennis
AHL'ers

Bad-
Vanek trying to pass through Ottawa whole team = instant odd man rush.
Team effort the last 30+ minutes.

Ugly-
This team trying to hold a lead. Prevent defense prevents a win not a loss.

I missed all but the last 5 min. of regulation and OT ....

How did Gragnani look as a forward? Better, worse, the same as when he plays "defense"?

How did Weber look?

Did Chewy look good between Vanek and Pominviile?

Lastly, how was Leino tonight?

Thanks for the insight!

Since Ruff doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, I must be wrong and it WAS Roy's guy.

Gragnani didn't do much, just look like your typical 4th liner, with no physicality. Weber was great, I thought he and McNabb was our best pairing that night. Chewy looked very good, caused a couple turnovers that led to the first goal and a good chance for the line. Leino was largely invisible, nothing too great, some okay plays, nothing fantastic.

Keep going at this rate, and Pegula may very well give the OK to fire Ruff. Even if that means eating the contract he signed Ruff to over the summer.

I wonder if Staff may be watching a game or two from the press box when Boyes is ready to return.

G:

--Ennis had by far his best game of the season. And not just the goal, he was everywhere buzzing offensively. More games like this, less games like pre-injury please.
--Miller. Real shaky in the 1st, but settled in as the game went on and kept this team in it.
--Ehrhoff going out of character to stick up for Miller...

B:
--...but the team not getting any spark from that. Come on, you see that happen and you fail to show up for OT??
--The usual suspects. Roy/Staff made great plays on the Ennis goal...but come on. Those guys have GOT to be better.
--PP. It has been atrocious for some time now.

U:
--Giving up a 3rd period lead
--Defensive zone coverage in general...they were running around way too much and it produced 2 goals against (1st one, the OT one).

These guys better screw their heads on right.
