Or we need our guys who actually can finish to put the puck on net more often. SK is a top 50 shooting % guy including those guys with one shot, one goal ... the difference is he doesn't shoot the damn puck enough to capitalize on that percentage. Few players convert at the rate we'd like to imagine ... they just shoot a hell of a lot more than our guys.
I see where this is going, but I am not going to get goaded into it with you tonight.

It wasn't going anywhere .. it was a simple statement of fact. Kessel has a lower shooting percentage than SK ... but shoots about 4-5 times more often. Erat is an over 16% shooter with the same issue of simply not shooting often enough. When our guys put the puck on net, they are effective. How many times do the prolific scorers shoot a rebound into a goalies pads? More often than they score on those attempts.

Look, players like legwand and erat have been the same players they have been all these years. They aren't going to change. We can cry all we want about wanting them to shoot more but they aren't going to do it. Why do we need a finisher? because they shoot and because they consistently produce results offensively which will take some pressure off of the defense.

Reason: cleaning
I'd argue that Smith's positioning and the pass to get him the puck was more important than the shot itself. For some reason in years past, we rarely got guys right there in the middle of the PK box. Shooting frequency has gotten much better recently compared to the beginning of the season.
That weak assed effort to get the puck that would have been an empty netter sure won't help
No kidding. I just don't see any heart from him. He should be putting all his weight on that stick or atleast trying to kick it down ice to waste time.
Anyways, a win is a win. Feels good, lets carry some momentum. PP continues to shine!

Great breakdown. Selanne is hte master of this PP move. Stand in the middle, cuase their 4 players to all creep in..get the shoot off and Boom Wilson is there untouched to bury it.
Think I held my breath the entire last 50 seconds of that game. Huge win and some fantastic individual play. Wilson was absolutely amazing tonight. Halischuk and Spaling have both played extremely well this season. The last three were must wins going into two tough games. Drop the Red Wings and I'll do a dance.
