good one.

The only thing that scares me about Semin is the comments from his part teammates about his attitude and work ethic, though they could be bitter comments for all we know.

Well, if people here loved Kovalev...Semin should become captain before training camp. In all seriousness, if people liked kovalev, semin is automatically better. Having a bad year too, so maybe his caphit will go down a bit

We could definitely use a big scoring C but good luck trading for one of those. We don't have the assets to trade for a Getzlaf or Mike Richards without giving up everything.

I'd much rather roll with Plekanec, Desharnais and Eller and try to flip Cammalleri for a guy with a better contract who actually contributes during the regular season than trade Pleks + AK + a ton of prospects for a center just because he's a 6'3" Canadian.
Leblanc probably plays RW in the NHL and Bournival is either a LW or a C. Meanwhile, after Leblanc the majority of the top forward prospects are RW (Gallagher, Kristo, Palushaj, Avstin). Long term I think the centers in the NHL are going to be the guys to go with (Plekanec as the 1, Desharnais and Eller spliting the 2 and 3 duties) while the veteran wingers get eased out.

If they can hold onto Kostitsyn I'm reasonably comfortable with the forward group moving forward. They don't have an elite scoring talent (although Pacioretty might become that) but its deep and has a good two-way game 5 on 5 plus can score with the man advantage. The prospects they have in had should be good enough to at least keep the depth strong and replace out veterans like Gionta as necessary.

For the next couple of seasons the defense is my bigger concern. Even if Markov is back to form the middle group of defensemen needs to come together. Either Emelin becomes a solid top 4 and Gorges stays and or Kaberle rebounds heavily or they'll need to get outside help to get to the next level. If Markov doesn't come back or is much diminished a lot more work will have to be done to find a solid top-pairing guy to take some of the load off of Subban and Gorges.

Semin can stay nice and far away, what a gutless player. We finally got rid of kovafloat and everyone wants semin now? Yikes.

Don't touch him with a 10-foot pole. A Russian slacker with a big contract.

Think Malakhov, Yashin... or maybe Samsanov.

I'd trade a seventh round pick for Semin, he's gone after the year anyway. If Washington wants more than a 7th, oh well.

I would think something like Cammy to the Islanders for a 1rst,Cammy to the Blues for Tarasenko or the most probable one cammy to the caps for kuznetsov

I care because it's absolute drivel

It's like me using any news story of my choosing to pass speculation off as fact.

It's ridiculous how bush league that site is Isn't there a thread for rampant speculation/trade rumors?

I believe TFP's report about PG looking for a top-6 but it's not really a big stretch. Everyones been speculating this for awhile now.
Someone in our org is feeding this guy ******** just to make him look bad and he's stupidly believing it. I wonder if Eklund even fact checks any of this stuff or if he really even cares about credibility

It's non-sense. Another puck moving d-man? Yeah okay. I'll believe it when I see it.

His contract is finishing next July.

I would trade Cammy for him.

He is way better than Samsonite.

Rather trade Gionta and have two 30 goal snipers in semin and cammalleri. Add Cole, AK, Pacioretty and guys like Eller, DD progressing. The fact we may have 3 top PP QB in subban, kaberle and markov. Tweak system and...

And, at least sometimes, can be a game-breaker. Cammi just doesn't have the puck skills. Well, sometimes he does, but lets make the playoffs first.

If we move cammi it better be for a forward that's going to contribute to the habs' future. I would say that we should do a kessel type deal, however, we just don't have the cap space right now...for reasons that shall not be named.

Kessel type deal for someone like Ryan. In fact, yes, Ryan specifically. Bury gomez, 2 firsts and a prospect for Ryan, kthnx.

I think the best part of this is that Gauthier didn't even want to tell Spacek where he traded him. This man won't even tell the players what's going on... we're all in the same boat.

I never was overly fond off AK until this season, he's playing much better since that
snot face brother got shipped out. Ak plays very solid , hits hard and is popping in some goals. Cammy isn't doing anything, sign AK trade cammy.

I'd much rather have Kovalev 10 years younger than Semin.

The guy was a playoff beast - Semin is a playoff ghost.

Kovalev was a leader - Semin seems more awkward than Markov.

Kovalev could play it rough occasionally - Semin!?? LOL

Both are very skilled and exciting east-west players and Russian, thats pretty much were the similarity stops.

Amen. Except that season were he couldn't sleep because of an awful medical condition (''labyrintite''? whatever the hell it is in english.) he was great for this team. So was Koivu before anyone says anything.
