If they send him to Hamilton, his salary doesnt count on the cap no?

Its gone except for the off-season (where its covered by the 10% overage). I think that's what's going to happen. Gomez gets waived during the offseason, if someone wants his cap hit for less money they get him, otherwise Hamilton.

Cammy is a major disappointment. He's getting paid to score which he isn't doing. Besides that, he coughs the puck up way too much. Makes passes to nobody or the other team. Habs should try and deal him for a high level prospect.

No one here knows for sure what the management team will do, why they will do it, or how they will do it... we come here to discuss, speculate, get different insights ect.

some posters just seem incapable of grasping that their opinion is no more "sure" than someone else's, even when at times people say some really crazy ****...

let's face it, some of the GM moves over the years (I'd include the Gomez trade in that) were so mind-boggling and/or insane that anyone posting them or speculating on them prior to would have been rightfully laughed right out of here, thread locked, credibility gone.

I really like A.Kost, but I'd offer 4M over 3 years, not a single year more, take it or leave it. I think he can possible get a bit more money or atleast more team as a UFA, but IMO if he doesn't expect that you can spend that money else where. IMO A.Kost is a very good 3rd line winer than can play the PP and step into a top 6 role. But if he wants more money or term, I think the Habs should just let him walk and sign someone like Stempniak for less money and term and still get decent 3rd line production.

I know there is still some RFA to sign

If a player like AKost "earns" a 5m contract, the CBA has done nothing.

I'm just happy everyone's off his back! He's doing more than enough with his ice time and has become a very strong player. If he signs, I'm going to be ecstatic. Hopefully a 4 year deal can be worked out like Cole's money.

Kostitsyn is playing the best hockey of his career. If he continues, he'll be on pace for 25+ goals. we need to resign. He's doing what Cammalleri isn't (although they play different styles of hockey). Offer him 3.75 mil * 2 or 3 years.

I will take your sentiment one step further. If this team loses any useful player because of salary pressure while Gomez is using cap space it will be grounds to sack the GM.

Unless AK has other aspirations he'll be back.

I hope we resign him, people talk about his play this season but they also forget that he was pretty good last year if you forget the games he was on Gomez's line.

I could be wrong but I actually have a pretty good feeling about that one. I mean people have wanted the guy out of town for the last five years but management never craved on that one, hell he is one of 4-5 player remaining from the huge rebuild. He as never asked for a trade because you know they would have done the "classy thing" and listened to his demands (see Lapierre)+ he seems to actually like it here.

I would try to get him at 4m per if we can but I'd be willing to offer him the same money as Cole. Think about it, about same production but less risk in decline due to age, Some people will talk about his inconsistency risks but just don't really see it.

2007-2008 53 pts in 78 games
2008-2009 41 pts in 74 games
2009-2010 33 pts in 59 games
2010-2011 45 pts in 81 games (and that's with the bad streak with Gomez)
2011-2012 14 pts in 21 games

Probably one of the most consistant foward on the team on a year to year basis.

Wouldn't surprise me if he gets bought out tbh.

If management is smart they will try to deal either/or Cammy or Gomez at the trade deadline to make room for AK46, not because I'm on the Ak bandwagon because of his production this season, but because he is one of our few big bodies up front, can sign him to reasonable dough.

I don't remember AK playing that good for that long. Bad games? ok, like every one else. But I'm not sure we've seen him this year in a game in which he didn't care, like in the past. He's working hard every game so far. I don't know if it's because it's a contract year or because he's understood something, but he's playing very well. I hope we keep him.

the problem with your stat is that AK would get 15 points in 17 games streak and then, get 2 in 15 and do nothing. The total at the end of the year is decent, but could be so much more. That's what I like this year about him. Much more consistent. I agree with you that last year, he was doing pretty well before being put on Gomez's line.

there will be a buyout and it won't count...

there will be an amnesty period for buyouts just like last CBA, teams like Montreal(gomez), NYR(redden) and maybe a few others(isles(dipietro) will have the chance to buyout at 2/3 and have no cap hit, 99% guarenteed

The only way I see AK not being back in under 2 scenarios...1-if he is looking for huge money or wants to get out of here thinking it would help his numbers 2-if they want to have room for LeBlanc Kristo or Gallagher in the top 9 in 2013-2014...though if you can get AK signed at 3.75 x 3-4 years you can find a way to trade him or somebody else in the summer of 2013 if needed.
