Rangers MVP this season thusfar

Has to be Dan Girardi. He was given a HUGE task of taking over for Marc Staal and is has done his job with flying colors. Without him eating 30+ minutes a game, given our injuries on the blue line this season, we would be truly screwed. Hats off to Danny G!

Henrik Lundqvist finds your lack of faith disturbing.

Girardi 1a and Lundqvist 1b. I wouldn't put Gaborik far behind.

I made my decision based on expectations vs performance. Hank has been incredible as well, he's my favorite athlete ever, but I don't know how Girardi isn't our MVP thusfar. He had the biggest challenge given to him out of any player on this team and is putting together an all-star worthy season, something he's never done before. Talk about coming through for your team.

I'm not snubbing Henrik by any means, or anyone for that matter. I believe he'll contend for the Vezina and this could even be his year. I give Girardi the edge though because I doubt many of us expected him to fill in so well and carry our defense. The best part of thinking about a team MVP this year is that its hard because so many players have stepped up. Its been a wonderful season so far.

Honorable mentions besides Girardi and Hank : Stepan, Richards, Callahan, Gaborik

after looking at various statistics at http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm...ewName=summary I just say that it is a team effort. rangers are scoring (goals) better than shooting (shots), defending (goals against). some games were tight from early of the season thanks to goalies but it got better since then. Rangers play like a team and that is a good sign to be successful in the spring.

Richards/Callahan/Stepan have been MUCH...MUCH more 'valuable' than Gaborik this season. Has he been awesome; yeah. These guys have been better.

I would say Girardi, Cally, or Hank. The three of them have been very good, but if I had to pick I would say Girardi. What he has done in Staal's absence is incredibly important to this teams success

Defensive defensemen don't make the sexy moves that every other kind of player has the chances to make so it's not shocking. The next jersey I buy will surely be Girardi.

Girardi has been good but to say he is our MVP is a bit over-the-top. He's a very good defensive defensemen that will do the little things to help us. But honestly, the combination of the Girardi, McDonagh improving, Del Zotto greatly improving defensively, and the others playing well that has made the defense good. Yes, Girardi eating up minutes has been big, but it's not the only reason we are winning.

My voting would be:

1. Richards
2. Gaborik
3. Henrik
4. Callahan
5. Stepan
6. Girardi
7. McDonagh
8. Del Zotto
9. Anisimov
10. Biron

I could go on a rant about Gaborik like I always do but I'll just say this...what was the biggest goal he scored this year?

Presently tied with D-Step for 2nd with 2 game winning goals. Cally and B-Rich are tied for 1st with 3 each.

You're really going to get on the guy for WHEN he scores his goals?

Here is how I break it down

1- Hanks
2- Girardi
3- Gabby
4- Cally

With Richards being an honorable mention. I think he's just going to get better and we have yet to see him at his best.

Well if he's gonna be a detriment in all other areas besides scoring then yes I'm gonna take a close look at when and how his goals are scored.

Girardi
Lundqvist
Callahan

With Staal out, Girardi has stepped up not just a little but to Norris Trophy level play. He's the clear cut MVP IMO.

Offensively: Gaborik and Richards have been the most consistent but Callahans been more clutch.

Defensively: Girardi without a questions.

Overall its a throwup between Girardi, Gabby, and Hank.
