When I had Comcast in school and I called to drop it, they asked "What can we do to get you to stay?" I've had similar experiences with other providers, so I'd be willing to bet if you called and said you were going to drop it they'd give you some kind of discount for a certain amount of time/free channels for a certain amount of time/whatever. I've had the same thing happen now with Comcast, Cablevision, and Fios so I guess it may be standard practice to get real desperate to keep customers.

Winter Classic tickets are being sold, you have to sign the request form and they will contact you. Prices range from 250-280. It's on a first come first serve basis.

How much did it wind up costing you? I'm assuming the alumni game was a separate charge than the preferred ticket price you had to select.

The alumni ticket was 73.00 per ticket. The cheapest was 53.00 but they were sold out.

I also filled out the form and didn't receive a call. My brother called our old ticket representative and he helped us out and got us these tickets!

The ironic thing through this all... We are about to purchase through STUBHUB and the website shutdown temporarily, to our surprise and a quick Twitter check by him, the Rangers tweeted that some were on sale on first come, first serve. I filled out the form, no call, so we called our old ticket representative. Having season tickets, for 2 years, he was willing to help us out. So after verification and whatnot, we got out of this with two tickets to the Winter Classic (SECTION 307), 2 tickets to the Alumni Game (SECTION 210), 2 ticket lanyards, 2 official knit hats, and 2 rally towels. The catch would definitely have to be the alumni game.

Two happy Ranger fans living in Pennsylvania right now!

So for what we would have spent at SH, we got all that through the Rangers.

I called my rep. weeks ago and he told me that when they became available I would be called since I had a request in. We were both shocked at how many STH,s didn,t buy tickets to the WC since this was a major perk the Rangers worked out for there STH,s. I was able to snag 8 together for a bunch of guys I work with who buy games for me. It was a little pricey given that the Alumni game was part of the deal.
I am pumped up for the WC!

Section 416 for the WC. Not sure for the Alumni game but it was not the same section. I think it cost $289 plus $73 which includes the gift pack.

With the flyers doing nothing but winning and the Rangers struggling in front of the cameras I don't even think i'll be able to stomach watching the second episode.

I called back this morning and got 9 tickets total to the Winter Classic. 14 Rows off the field center ice. I believe this was a result of them not selling alot of the packages they were offering and they had to release the tickets.

When I spoke to my rep. the other day he told me that they were extremely disapointed in the fact that so many STH,s did not buy WC tickets. The Rangers had pulled a lot of strings to get enough tickets to offer a pair for every STH and expected a small percentage of non- buyers but I think it was close to 30%. As a fan I think the experience will be unreal and will be taking 2 days off from work to attend.

I received my 6 tickets and hats, towels, etc in the mail today (postal priority).

Funny thing is not all the hats are the same. Some have a NHL patch on the side and Reebok on the inside. Those has a tag of $22.

The other ones don't have the NHL patch and they are $12. WTF.

Both have the WC patch on the inside.

They also include 3 WC pins.

A lot of it has to do with prices. It's hard to justify hundreds of dollars for a regular season game, plus food, plus hotel, plus tolls, and all that other great stuff that comes along with a road game. Not to mention they jacked up the prices even higher than the Flyers face value to make a quick buck for themselves.

I guess my way of thinking is different. I don,t make a lot of money and being a STH is my main luxury and I think this is a special event. I have been following the team since the early 70,s and try to make at least one road trip a year in addition to all the games I go to at MSG. I lay out $14,500 for my seasons so when an event like this was announced I jumped at the tickets
I can see both sides of the argument but I am not considering this just a regular season road game but an "Event" that is why I am excited about going.
