You posted as I was posting. I can agree with the sentiment of these last two posts.
I've really grown to respect the Wings. I could do without some of the snarky comments and arrogance that some of the fans bring to the games, but the team itself I respect.
With that said, I really hate how Crispy and Weber constantly compare everything the Predators do to what the Wings do during a Preds-Wings game. I guess they got into the habit of it early on. It's annoying. This team is its own team now. No need in comparing them to the Wings anymore. It comes across as little brother syndrome.
Of all the statements you made agreed or disagreed this I agree with the most. It's ok to respect and that goes without saying but we learn more about them they we do us during the call of the game. I don't want them to be homers at all but they are bordering on being too aloof. Terry does a good post game show but not during the game. I see no insight and game strategy by Terry or Pete. Don't get wrong there are worse and I've heard worse. I always feel like that they are talking to us like we are children.
Considering most teams only score somewhere between 2.5-3 goals per game on something between 25-30 shots wouldn't every goal have to be fluky if the gauge for "fluky" is it only happens every now and then?
It doesn't really matter. The Preds won a game in which they were outplayed pretty much across the board. It happens.

Watched the replay. It hit the top of his right pad. I guess that makes it possible. The shot was coming from the left, the puck bounced off the top of his right pad and backed out to the left side. Then Tootoo magically just comes from the bench and gets the rebound. Goal. <-- sad face Oh well. I guess that one makes a bit more sense. Still, that Weber shot was like Hockey fate was on your side. That bounce was nasty
We know all too well about fluky bounces. Lidstrom against us in the playoffs a few years ago. Shot from the Red line after faceoff and it did the exact same loopy bounce on us and in. This was in the playoffs, that hurt.
I fixed it in a later post. Smith rotated off and Spaling came on while we had possession. Craig leaves the ice at 17:17 .... Toots scores at 17:22. Leggy off for Spaling to come on .... so we had Halischuk, Smith, Leggy on the ice .. they rotate off with only Smith and Leggy getting to the bench and Toots scores five seconds onto the ice.
I'll take it. Toots with five goals now ... all in the past month ... 4 at ES.
Toots is the spark plug and the heart and soul of the team. His biggest assest is he shoots the puck. He creates opportunities. I would love a Smith/Wilson/Toots line right now.

Especially since games between the two clubs have become rather competitive, and after a couple of first round exits at the hands of the Wings.

The Fisher line had one shot on goal tonight, and it came from Hornqvist. That line has been playing "first line" minutes (at least for Nashville) over the past couple of games. It needs to step it up.
Can't agree more. That line was invisible. SK doesn't skate or work hard. And Fisher just doesn't have the creativity to generate offense. I'd be happy if every time they entered the zone, they dumped it in, had Hornqvist go to the net, let one of Fisher or SK retrieve it and pass it back to the D for a shot with a Hornqvist screen.
It would generate a whole lot more offense than skating in, making some half-assed pass and then turn it over.
back on track, I thought that was an entertaining game even if we were on the receiving end of a beat down for most of it. For a while it got pretty chippy. I was hoping it would continue.
That was amazing. Best come-from-behind win of the year...we were due for something like that at home and we finally got it!
Let's not delude ourselves though...we got thoroughly outplayed for 99% of the game and didn't deserve to win at all. It was straight-up highway robbery. But I'll take it.

Oh, and dishonorable mention to Erat and Kostitsyn. Two softest marshmallows on our team. Kostitsyn = the new Dumont. Only hustles when he feels like it and avoids battles along the boards like the plague. Gross.
The heavy dump and forecheck in the 3rd period was extremely effective I thought (well, compared to the 2nd, where we looked lost and stymied offensively). We seemed to be successful pressuring their defenders and outlet passes for good portions of the period. Curious if this was a set plan all game, or mid-game adjustment?
