"He's a big pest and he has been a pest a long time," winger Tie Domi said with a chuckle. "There are not as many of them as before, so everyone's recognizing him a lot more. He does what he has to do. He's the kind of guy you'd love to have on your team."
I'm pretty sure this is the first non-King player to make this statement (in public) this season....
Anybody saying something positive about Avery is always a good thing. Sad thing with Sean is that he's got some talent to play the game, but his mouth keeps getting in the way. But I'm glad he's playing for the Kings and not against them every night.
The difference between a "pest" and a "heavyweight" is HUGE. Trust me, you don't wanna see Avery go with Domi. Avery's job is to be a pest, but Domi's job is to pummle opponents with his fists. Domi is as good at his job as Avery is at his. "The Albanian Assassin 2 hour VHS tape" will attest to this.
What you want to see is Avery face washing Sundin, or better yet, chirping at that no talent @$$ clown, Jason Allison... Or making Brian McCabe so insane with anger that he leaves his position to try to kill Avery on the boards.
I don't mean to vent on this well-intentioned thread, but most Avery conversations turn into talk of him fighting the other team's knuckle dragger... Avery is a middle-weight scrapper who goes with guys his own size. If he fights McGratton or Hordichuck, he'll end up doing his team WAY more harm than good.
Go Kings Go! And yes, props to Domi for not dog-piling onto Avery in the press.
I love Averys game. He gets me all fired up during games too. But I'm a Kings fan...
Ya, and I love the "why won't Avery fight ______" comments. And the whole "he talks too much, it gets in the way of his game" comments are pretty stupid too. Sean has really stepped it up this year. He draws penalties all game, chips in a huge check every night, frustrates the hell out of the ENTIRE opposing team, scores the occasional goal, assists on a few others and then sums the game up for the Canadian press by dissing French-Canadians. Come on, what more can you ask for?
