Well even at an AHL level, looks like Kundratek is the better player.

I still think they could have gotten someone better for Kundratek, but whatever.

What a difference a year makes for zuke..

Last year he got called up right before christmas, and was on top of the world..

This year he's injured during christmas and to top it of he's likey not going to be featured much during the 24/7 feature in regards to the WC game...

Sucks for him, but I think he´ll bounce back and keep getting better. Seems like he´s strong mentally (in contrast to his fellow norwegians, now ex NHL´ers, who chickened out one by one, and fled back to Sweden with their tails between their legs....)

I don´t believe the Rangers´ players in the AHL will get much attention regarding the WC anyways....

The problem I see with Zuke is that he still gets driven off the puck too easily at the NHL level. When you look at some St. Louis highlights, it's clear that superior skating, quickness, and vision are some keys to why he's so successful.

Easier said than done though. Marty's a freak.

When does JAM get a contract from the Rangers?

Good question. Right now he could get an NHL contract from anyone.

Really? That I didn't know...so he's basically a "free agent" playing on a contract with the Whale?

I don't think any other GM in the league would take a shot at one of Sather's players though, knowing what he's capable of

Jeff Prough called up to the CT Whale Today . This guy COULD be a big time player for them depending on the role he gets. He was on pace for like 105 points in the ECHL until the last few games which he didn't score in. Kind of a smaller forward but he has shown this year to have a good scoring touch.

The funny story was JAM was recruited by Dean Stork to play for Greenville but he played so well in the camps he got an AHL contract and at this pace could earn an NHL contract.

A big thank you to Johnny8242 for clarifying that Jeff Prough is indeed on an AHL contract, and that Brendan Connolly is on an ECHL deal. Connolly was removed from the stats table accordingly.

EDIT: Didn't see that he reported Prough to CT right above me.

I'm hearing contradicting reports on this, can you clarify?

Because what I'm hearing JAM is tied into his contract with the Whale for this season, meaning other NHL teams can't offer him a contract until the off-season, where I expect, he'll stay loyal to NYR if they offer him a deal worth his time.

It's great to see JAM doing well in the AHL.

I have never doubted in his talent. Hope he can get a NHL/AHL contract next year.

Any team can offer him an NHL contract and he's free to sign it right now.

Hate to be a pain but can I get a link to something on this subject if possible? I've searched but can't find.

Sorry, don't have one--took a stab at finding some confirmation, but couldn't come up with anything (the CBA for the AHL costs if you want to see the whole thing). Seems like it would make sense from a player's perspective to have an "out clause" giving him the right to sign an NHL contract (if it's not in the CBA itself). Restraint of trade and all that.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I really doubt he can just sign with another team during the season. I think it would have to wait until the offseason. Again, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyways, the Rangers should give him a contract as soon as possible.

I think this was misinterpreted.

What I think nyr2k2 mean was JAM is playing so well right now he could be any team in the NHL, and not in the AHL.

Nope, I meant just what I wrote. He's on an AHL contract at the moment. Property of the Whale. He can sign an NHL ELC with any team at any time.

He'd have to be released from his AHL SPC to sign an NHL deal. The team could theoretically refuse to release him from his contract if a different organization wanted to sign him to an NHL ELC, but I doubt that happens.

It doesn't seem to happen very often--and I doubt that many teams would take the chance; there's a reason why JAM was not drafted. While he's gotten off to a very good start, chances are teams (even the Rangers) are going to want to wait and see how he does over the full season.
