i can't believe murray traded rundblad to you guys. it'll be nice to see him here in phx though. you guys have any idea if he'll suit up tonight vs the rangers?
Good return (I think Turris is better than what he showed last month though but his value was Rundblad and not Rundblad+2nd).
But I'm surprised they didn't ask for a winger back. Rundblad is as much of a project as Filatov tbh (and Filatov isn't bolting for the AHL to not come back line the stereotype suggests). However, I've watched Rundblad a decent amount since the season started and he's a bit of a wreck in his own zone especially since Jared Cowen isn't covering his mistakes anymore so I expect him to get less TOI than OEL did last season under Tippet (and I don't think OEL was a "liability" last season but Rundblad will be at times). But he did show some good offensive flashes and Yandle+OEL+Rundblad is a bit excessive, I'd love to have one of them in Colorado because outside of EJ+Elliot, our d are all slow and immobile.

Doubt it...Chris Summers was called up a few days ago to play against EDM and has not been sent back down.
Right now we have Yandle, OEL, Morris, Aucoin, Schlemko, Summers and Roszival all up and healthy. Unless there is another deal sending one of them away i dont see him being on the Yotes right away

alright thanks! i'll be at the game tonight so i was just wondering. hopefully he'll play against the bruins later in the month and i'll see him then.
Well he's played 20 something games in OTT and havent really been playing at a good enough level, needs time in the AHL to work on his decision making and speed of the game in general.
He's shown signs of the potential he's been hyped with but Ott coach Maclean didnt play him much due to his poor defensive play.
That's my take on him anyways, seen every ottawa game so far.
Yet another blue-chip d-man to add to your list. But we still need skill upfront in a bad way. Without making much of a reach, I would assume another deal will be made sooner or later for a forward. Summers lookd good last game; OEL, Yandle, Aucoin, and Klesla are obvious starters. Flemko is getting better and better. That leaves Morris, Gormley, and Murphy as potential pieces in a trade.
Whatever happens, we got the better end of this deal by far. People keep saying Rundblad has defensive issues, but we don't need him this year and maybe not next year. Turris wasn't even playing. We got a future top-four player for someone that was no longer in our daily roster and a 2nd round pick to boot. Fantastic.
I also feel like the coaches we have can make him even better than he could have been in Ottawa. Just look at OEL this season, we have a great coach for our defensemen.
Summers will be sent down for sure so that narrows it to 7.
With the Flyers losing Pronger for the season could we potentially move someone like Roszival (who has 1 year left on his deal) to them for some help up front? That way we wont have to worry about taking on tons of salary if we move some in Rozy.
Kudos to Maloney. He absolutely fleeced Ottawa today getting two good assets for a disgruntled Kyle Turris. Didn't see this coming at all. Enjoy Rundblad.
Love it. And the way it shakes out, I won't be disappointed if we flip the 2nd for a borderline top-six forward who is aging or approaching UFA. Just glad the drama is over.
It would appear Rundblad would be best served by playing 25 minutes a night in Portland for 20 or 25 games. It certainly worked well with OEL.
I'm not comparing the two but playing big minutes under the tutelage of Slaney, King (and Playfair down the road) would go a long way in rounding out Rundblad's game.
Congrats on the trade, guys. His defense can make you want to pull out your hair at times but the man is calm and skilled. Also knows how to throw the occasional hit. Always gave me the impression of a hard worker.
I really feel like we got sold short, but Rundblad was a prospect I enjoyed watching play and I'm happy to see him go to a team that I like.
I see him making a good D partner for OEL down the road. Glad to see so many Sens fans upset about the trade. DOn't worry you got a hell of a talent in Turris.
