That's what everyone was saying about Washington early in the season. I think it's silly to consider any team 'unbeatable', especially when we beat them when we weren't battling a million and one injuries.

Also, did Marchand just curse at a kid?

Since Crosby is out for who knows when, Marchand is now my least favorite player. Guy's the biggest POS I've ever seen

I don't think Marchand cursed at the kid, the kid was wearing a B's t-shirt.

GEEEEEEEZ ! We are playing without some VERY key players, and we beat them earlier this year etc...They have a heck of a team no doubt, but we can play with them when healthy,These type games happen during a season. I do think Homer has a little work ahead of him to try and shore up our D with Pronger out etc, but no reason to crown the Bruins yet based on this game ?

True about washington comment, but washington had a great first 7 games. This boston team just won the stanley cup, went undefeated in november and have teh best goal diff in the nhl.

Every single team in the world looks unbeatable when they're firing on all cylinders...

You should always remember that because this so called "amazing" Boston team didn't look so good in October when they were last in the East.

He still cursed at a fan which is pretty unprofessional, especially when a kid is sitting right there.

Whatever though.

I am just going to try and pretend this game never happened. So terrible in every way.

I think its fair to say the bruins werent themselves in the beginning of the season. Since they flipped the switch, they have been the best team in hockey. Flyers are too talented of a team to be shutout, and dominated like this. Even with injuries.

Relax dude it's December. You might be right that they're the best team NOW, but there's still a lot of hockey left to be played. Pittsburgh looked like the best team in hockey when they had Crosby back, Chicago looked like the best team in hockey during October, Washington looked like the best team when they went 7-0-0, heck even we looked like the best team at some point.

There's so much parody in the league things change in a matter of weeks, which is why you shouldn't sell your team short.

Edit: Days

Yes i do agree Boston is playing better now after recovering from their Stanley cup hang over etc....But its a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG season with MANY ebbs and flows ...Do i think Boston should be the "favorite" to win the cup ? Sure they should be, after all they are the champions and they have a fine club with one heck of a Goal tender....But you never know this early on what kind of injuries, suspensions, confidence shaking moments etc may befall a club.Hopefully our injury bug will fly away now, and our club can get healthy.....

i don't think this team can compete with the best teams in the league without pronger and giroux when it boils down to it. yes, we have had some wins over some good teams in this stretch, like Pittsburgh, although without crosby or letang. But i don't think, at our current state, we can beat the teams we need to beat in order to be successful. there are too may players that aren't stepping up. hartnell and Jagr have been great, but i'm really beginning to think that both of their play has been a direct result of Giroux. Outside of those 3, who is stepping up and playing well enough to carry this team? Briere? no. JVR? no. The players that have stepped up in games recently are Talbot and Simmonds. But if you want to count on those two guys to carry an offense against a team like the Bruins you are going to be severely let down. something needs to happen.

i hate to say it, because it's going to seem like a "knee jerk" reaction to a bad loss, but i think they need to make a trade. you need to push hard at a guy like shea weber, a guy who can realy solidify the defense and make the team more comfortable in their own end.

My hate for JVR is exacerbated by the contract he signed which he never earned. There was NO reason to give it to him. It was too big of a risk, and it's certainly seeming like he hasn't taken the step forward we were all hoping for (including myself). His 140 game sample size is proving to be more true than his 11 game sample size (this past playoffs); who would have thought?

edit: I think JVR is what he is at this point; a 45-55 pt player. He'll decide to play one day and dominate, and then disappear for 15.
ITA about that ridiculous extension. Nobody is going to want to trade for him with his point totals when he's about to make that much money.

almost glad this game happened. the flyers needed a bit of a reality check. but ****, the bruins are good. really good. here's hoping they find a way to collapse because the cup looks like theirs to lose at this point.

hope cooter's okay.

Yea, the Bruins are functioning like a well oiled machine.

I remember when the Flyers were enjoying that.
