#CBJ have had talks with Phoenix regarding Kyle Turris, but Columbus does not seem a likely destination ... at this time.

Actually yes, I would most certainly trade a 5 point 3 million player for a younger guy who has the same exact potential, actually probably much higher, than Brassard has, only difference is Turris hasn't gotten nearly the chance that Brassard has gotten. Not going to say Turris is a better player or will, but Brassard has had plenty of great chances to shine and he has pretty much blown them all. I don't necessarily care about getting Turris as much as I'd love for us to off-load Brassard's terrible contract and I'd rather get a closer to ready Turris than a 2nd round pick or something like that for Brassard and I'm sure we couldn't get that much of a defender for Brass.

What this speculation DOES illuminate, is the probability that Howson will look to other struggling teams and trade some guys for equal value in order to shake up the room and change the chemistry.

I for one would welcome it.

Goes to Ottawa for Rundblad and a 2nd.

I for one, am glad that the CBJ didn't meet that price.

Would you have traded Brass for that return, Sam?

If that is what the return for Turris was I think Brassard can get a little bit better then what I expect, maybe; however his contract will probably be what ultimitely screws us of a decent return for him.

Ottawa could have kept the 2nd and I would have done it in the blink of an eye. For that matter, I'd like to see Howson make the deal with PHX now.

Rundblad is really good, the equivalent is our top defensive prospect, whoever that is, but Rundblad is better than either Savard or Moore.
I have no idea why Ottawa did this.

I guess the equivalent would be Moore and a second, so I agree with you. I also think I would have accepted that return for Brassard, but his contract will make it difficult for us to do that well. It may be that we're "stuck" with him, though it's possible that he could suddenly have it all click in for him and make him much more valuable than that. We can only hope, I suppose.

Honestly. I'm kind of relieved that David Rundblad is gone. His defence is terrible. Having Karlsson is bad enough. We need RD that can play defense too. Cowen is turning into a beast, and Rundblad was holding back Brian Lee who is developing a pretty decent two way game right now and Matt Carkner who is a solid bottom pairing d-man. Anderson is getting obliterated in nets because the defense has been terrible.

Was more upset about the 2nd rounder being added, would have preferred a player like Bobby Butler, but dahwell. Just like when Columbus got Vermette, trading from a position of strength. Even if its a slight overpay, 3rd overall picks always have huge upside, I don't care what happened in Phoenix, his style didn't fit Tippett's system. I just hope Ottawa doesn't Filatov him.

I am with you... IMo enough terrible trade from Sens side. Even if Turris is play good. Rundblad will bethe great player.

Now,prospects of Phoenix:

Rundblad
Ekman-Larsson
Gormley
Goncharov

of course Yandle is still young... IMO a great roster to the future. Only too much offensive defensman but Maloney has a great position in the future trades IMO.
