neuvirth looking good on that breakaway. Did you see it hit the ref's skate and deflect? What if the ref deflected a puck into the net? Would it count as a goal?

I would think yes, as long as he didn't use a distinct kicking motion to deflect it in.

Nope. Puck can't be directed into the net off an official. Waved off immediately.

Thanks, I've never seen it happen like that. Bounce back off a ref. It nearly deflected back to an Avalanche player. Would the goal stand if the Avalanche player scored off the ref's deflection? Ref could get the assist?

My earlier post on that subject was a joke, but I did figure NHL ref's were thought of the same as NFL Ref's. Part of the field of play. Learned something new. Yay me!

They are in any other case (get checked to the ice by one *cough* McCreary *cough* and you're SOL) but when the puck gets directed into the net off them, that's the only exception (I guess).
Caps had a goal against waved off a few years ago because of this (I think it was against the Sabres but not 100% on that). Was dumped around the boards, Johnny went out to play it but it deflected toward the net and in off the linesman.
