Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)

BROWN: “We got our (butts) kicked, plain and simple. We made mistakes, and that’s a good team. They’re going to do that every time if we’re going to give the puck away and not make plays in our own zone. We just got our (butts) kicked, and there’s really no excuse. it’s time for everyone in this room to wake up.’’

(on whether it takes a blowout loss to wake players up…)
BROWN: “Maybe. I don’t know. We played a good game in the last couple games. We beat the worst team in the league 2-1, by the standings. They’re the worst team in the league. We come in here and, I don’t know where they are in the standings but they’re a good team. They’ve been a good team. We got our (butts) kicked. It’s time for guys to wake up. That’s pretty much it, really. Guys have to wake up and take responsibility.’’

(on whether things felt wrong from the start…)

BROWN: “I don’t really have an answer for whether we had it. It doesn’t really matter. At this point of the season, it doesn’t really matter. We’re 30-whatever games into the year and we’re out of the playoffs right now. It doesn’t really make a difference if we have it (at the start) or we don’t. We have to find ways to be a lot better than we were tonight. It’s a team game, but everyone has to bring their `A’ game and be ready to play. With everything that has gone on, guys have to take responsibility in here. It doesn’t matter whether Stevens is our coach, or whoever they bring in. It doesn’t matter who the coach is. it’s going to be the players that play the games, and it’s going to be the players that take responsibility.’’

Plus how awesome would it be to to get the #1 overall pick.

With the first pick, LA selects, from Russia, Some random 5 foot 5 defenseman who was expected to be drafted in the 5th round!!!
I just don't think I can take it, and Columbus is way worse, so we wouldn't even get the top pick. I can't really do a super fail anymore, don't have it in me.

Instead we traded away our future, damaged our lineup and brought in Murray 2.0Now we have same results like my plan but no future anymore.

Well done Lombardi

AEG should think about a house cleaning from a-z
I still remember words from Lomardis 5 year plan like "Contender" "Powerhouse" "winnign mentality"

I'm not to sure we are at this point after 5 years.

Sutter is not Terry 2.0

Cut that ******** out, Kurri. I won't even start on the rest of your post.

Pretty much agree with this. The 'core' of this team is simply not good enough to build a championship around.

Some talent, little heart, and not much else going on.

Mike Richards was a great addition. It's sad that he has more guts in his little 5-10 frame than all the lettered players combined.

The core of this team, as in what actually comprises the core (Kopitar, Richards, Quick, Doughty), is good enough. The Richards trade was a good one even though he's going to wind up being wasted, there was a player who needed to be added to that core group and one was acquired. It's the complementary players that are SORELY lacking.

Are we the worst skating team, puck handling team, passing team, and shooting team in the league? C'mon, I see Kings players falling, pass into eachothers skates, whiff on passes, whiff on shots, simply lose the puck by just skating two strides with no one near them! I think the Kings need more than X and O's or emotion. They need to learn how to play hockey agan!

What future did Lombardi trade away? Teddy Purcell and Colten Teubert?

You know, maybe the Kings are making the right move by bringing in a defensive minded coach.

I love this guy.

I do agree that the Richards trade made us immediate contenders, but I think the team as a whole wasn't ready for such a jump in expectations. It may seem the Kings skipped a step in development. I think the Kings as a franchise were not ready mentally and emotionally to be a top contender as they were actually still growing. They are not ready!

I don't see them as being normally like this.

To be honest, I thought they went into this game scared sh!tless that they were going to get embarrassed by Detroit and that is exactly how they played and exactly what happened.

What's the situation with Richards? Did he go to Detroit?
He is in Detroit and practiced today in a red jersey with the othe non starters. Gave an interview in the Times, said he 'missed' the guys alot and is frustrated that he's not been playing. Also noted that he skated hard and went all out for an hour , that's a good sign.
Because this teams needs him BADLY...his lack of leadership is painful to see.

Speaking of which, very disappointed in Brown's post game commetns...he's the Captain, this team has been failing for weeks and he's yet to call a closed door meeting and address things.
What exactly is he waiting for???

Sutter should make the first changes there...if the guys weating letters haven't gotten it done this year, change them .

Hopefully this is rock bottom. Sutter outta make them do bag and skate drills and sit the players who aren't producing regardless of stature.

Not to mention a bunch of draft choices in the top 3 rounds.

The big question now is whether DL will squander more assets trying to save the season...

Fortunately, given that he has mismanaged the salary cap so badly he can't really do much more damage. Not that there is much left on the farm anyway. Roster players will have to be traded for roster players.

I think you're right.

As far they go, Simmonds would still be on party beach with his buddy Drew...sucking like the rest of the team.

And Schenn would be on IR.

Just because it hasn't been reported on Twitter or by Bloggers doesn't mean it hasn't happened. It probably has and they've kept it in house, where it should be.

I don't think just changing the coach is going to change this Kings team. I don't think Sutter will settle for the bottom 6, won't surprise me at all to see massive changes there.

clifford and maybe richardson can stay. the rest of the bottom 6 need to be moved... and well in retrospect... Philly lost to Boston 6-0 today and the Sabres lost to the Pens 8-3... kinda weird day in the NHL.
