I remember Burke tweeting something about one of those coaches getting fired and said "our coach isnt going anywhere." Our pk and GA ranking isnt going anywhere either Burke. Eakins is the perfect coach for this team, suck it up and tell your best friend he's fired. Eakins will get snatched up sooner or later.

That is absolutely twisted. Burke must have a blindfold on.

Burke will do anything to protect his good college buddy.

Looks like its time to fire Burke.

Wilson can go back to the good ol' US of A

We do not require his services here any longer. In addition, I think that our next coach has to be a tough, defensively disciplined coach who commands respect from his players.

A real leader, not a bozo like Wilson !!!

we're almost out of a playoff spot, we're dead last in the pk, we're mired in a horrible streak...perfect time to extend our coach!!

I was reading a random hockey articles online and came across this article from a year ago http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/...l-coach-again/

Personally, i have a huge bias for Quinn (raised in East Hamilton, near Barton Street, Olympic Gold after decades of drought) and would love to have him back as the Leafs coach. The chances of having Quinn coming to coach Toronto again may be slim to none, especially with great coaches like Carlyle and Eakins out there. But how would you guys think Quinn would do instead of Wilson behind the bench??

no coach on the planet should've survived the leafs' november and decemeber last season.

if he wasn't fired then, he won't be now.

the day he gets extended tho is the day i order a sharp blackhawks jersey and wave goodbye.

My "Value of: Ron wilson" thread in the trades forum didn't take long to get deleted. Frustration abounds... ... at least for me.

He should have been fired 2 season ago after that terrible season or at least last season after the horrendous start.

I don't mind Wilson but seriously how do you talk about contract extensions when our team is clearly playing bad. Unless Burke plans on bringing really good players soon, I don't think Wilson gets us to the next level and improves our PK

True, but your telling me we have the worst goalie in the league? Cause we're last in the PK right now. I'm sure we don't have the worst goalie in the league, so it can't be all about goalkeeping. And did you see how Vancouver completely owned us in our own end for the entire night

Look at J.S Guigere's numbers in Colorado this year. I don't think you can blame this all on goaltending. Wilson should have been removed long ago. IMO the leafs getting off to the start they did this year killed the opportunity to have him removed. Burke is just praying the leafs can find a way to start winning again so he can keep his buddy around. The further the drop the harder it will be though. IMO the minute he gets fired is the minute the leafs turn the corner. He's just a horrible coach

The funny thing about this is, Pat Quinn took the Leafs to the playoffs every season he was the coach, taking them to the 2nd round on numerous occasions and having a top 15 PK. The first season he misses the playoffs by 1 lousy point, he gets fired on the spot!

NOW, we have a terrible coach in Wilson who has failed from the get go in Toronto missing the playoffs 3 years straight since being here, and well on his way to missing them again this season, only 1 point from being out! YET, he is not fired . This guy is the most hated coach in the NHL! He is the reason NO good UFA's will sign here. His reputation is notorious for being a huge arrogant jerk. Exactly why San Jose fired him years ago. He needs to be fired now! If Burke was not the GM, Wilson would have been canned 2 seasons ago.

There have been 7 coaches fired this season in the NHL, that were much better than Wilson is. Burke is killing his reputation by keeping him around.

IF, Burke gives his best friend a unwarranted contract extension, I am done with the Leafs. I will not support them no more. I will go buy a Boston, Seguin jersey!

You should watch games outisde of the Leafs box sometimes. Vancouver does this to most teams.

This might shock you, but they went to a game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals a few months ago. Shocking!

No. No, it isn't. The Leafs have now been through a bumper crop of goalies in the last four seasons. I'd be looking at other places than the net.

Strictly an outsider's perspective here, but the Leafs are running out of potential changes to make. How many players do you guys have now that were around before Burke took over? Orr? Anyone else? There's an almost entirely different team than just four years ago, and if the same problems persist, the problem isn't the players. There are clearly systemic problems that transcend the roster, and that leads to the guy behind the bench.

No offense intended.

*muses* You know, I think I said the same thing here last year...

Is it this the wrong thread to say
"lets keep Wilson and Tank for a higher draft pick?"

And additionally to your comment, the only reason to extend a coach would be if you were worried he would be signed away as a free agent after the season.

Anyone worried about that?

2nd line is inconsistent. 3rd line also inconsistent and 4th line is unproductive, but given the minutes they get that's kidn of expected.

At least the 1st line is cooking, Bozak has improved and the blueline is scoring.

Personally, I think Wilson's run and gun style has little direction or organization. It's fun to watch against less skilled teams, but against the league's best, goal trading shootouts aren't going to work.

Among other things, Burke is about arrogance and stubbornness.

Leafs fans need to engage in some reverse psychology. Hold a huge rally insisting that Wilson be extended for another decade. Rain abuse on Burke on call-in shows, stating that he is not giving Wilson enough support.

Wilson would be gone in a week.
I don't know if you're joking, but if you're not, I agree. I can't see Wilson getting fired if there is public pressure to fire him because then Burke will be viewed as caving in to pressure.

Burke: Wilson is the coach we're going to have behind the bench. Is that the coach you want?

Murray: Yes

Burke: Well, we're going to extend him.

Murray: OK

I still think its the players, not the coach or the system he's implemented. PK has worked great in spurts.

I don't agree that Eakins should be his replacement
