Sauer has been a bit up and down. It's just the normal learning curve for a young NHL defenseman though. Nothing to worry about.

Seriously. There are some pretty bad rangers bloggers out there (99% of them), but Scotty hockey takes the cake as the absolute worst IMO. He's like a caricature except he's completely serious.

We already have simlar players to Sauer in McDonagh and Girardi.
That's a fair point as it relates to MDZ's value to the team because he does have terrific offensive skills especially passing wise despite his tendency to be tentative to shoot.
McDonaugh and Girardi are both very good passers as well.

Actually, I thought it wasn't much of a reach even though MDZ has worked really hard on his defense and for the most part has been pretty good.

From Gross: Rangers say Steve Eminger (separated right shoulder) will be out 8-10 weeks.

Wow 8-10 weeks...gotta say I really thought it would be 3-4.

Guess that means we will get eminger back the end of February.

if we get Staal back we should be fine with:

Staal - Girardi
MDZ - McDonaugh
Woywitka - Stralman

erixon..

should be fine. Stinks how far away Sauer is.

Let's hope Staal can come back by after the AS break.

You never know with these concussions though. Same with Sauer. Who knows, we can be without both for the rest of the year.

Bickel over Erixon for tomorrow (if Woywikta can play) based on Bickel's physicality and what he brings there. Torts liked him in camp.

So if Woywitka can suit up, we see Bickel. If Woywitka can't go, then we get both Bickel and Erixon.

Bickel definitely brings jam to the back-end. He may not be the most mobile but positionally he is pretty good. He will keep it simple and bang it off the glass.

Hopefully it's Woywitka and Bickel.

Woywitka is questionable it says, so he should be able to go. Get Bickel in there for a physical game vs. the Debbies.

Hm. I suppose any hope of us getting completely healthy on the back end is completely off base at this point.

Sauer and Eminger both out for several months it seems, which means that not only is Stralman a top 4 dman on this club for the time being, but Bickel might be here for awhile.

I hope Girardi is popping some 5 hour energies because he will need oxygen tanks on the bench by the home stretch this season.

I guess we see if they can get a Dman back for one of the spare Forwards?

I highly douby Avery or EC have much value. Perhaps Wolski but salary would have to come back

I am sure Sather is going to try

Remember when people were suggesting we should trade a dman for a LW?

Yeah. You can never have too many dmen.

Are there any unsigned vet FA d-men still available that are decent? They can't trade now due to the freeze, and would be prefer that they didn't, anyway, unless it included Dubinsky and maybe later round picks - which is a pipe dream anyway.

Yea it's ugly. Stralman is really going to have to step up and MDZ needs to maintain. Plus Girardi/McD have to hold strong through the marathon of minutes they've been tasked with.

We're going to have to acquire someone - this team can't be down 3 of our starting 6 for an extended length of time which it looks like this is. Sauer isn't close. Emminger is done for 2 months and Staal, though getting better, might be a decent hit away from being done for the season. Woywitka, Erixon, Bickel & Stralman? Ugh.l
