I also think it gives the opposing team a bit of a different look to deal with rather than always seeing a righty on the right and a lefty on the left. Since he's played it before with success, I think it may be worth another look t some point down the road, maybe paired with McDonagh or Del Zotto, or maybe even with Staal depending on how the other pairings shake out.
I mentioned this in a post just when we traded for him that The Rangers brass might want to try him on the "unnatural" side as they think his skills can get him there. It is a bit different to play "off" side in the SEL than in the NHL. Much quicker game and shorter time to make decisions mean transition to adapting to this way is much tougher on the NA rink. Many times when Swedish NHL defenders come back to play WCs/Olympics/SEL they have 5 or even 6 lefthanded defenders on the team as they are by far more numerous than righties. They do it well for the most part. But I agree it would be very good to have him on right side - if it works out... Might as well try it out...

Staal - Girardi
McD - Erixon
MDZ - Sauer

Stråwitinger as 7th...

RB is the quickest poster anywhere I see... So no Avery or Christensen decision yet then. Interesting...

Erixon was probably put on a plane for Hartford in St.Louis. The Rangers practiced there late this morning and then flew to Phoenix. Erixon had 2-3 practices with the Rangers. The Whale have a game tomorrow night.

According to Adam Rotter, he is up again.

The Rangers have called up Tim Erixon on an emergency basis in the case that Jeff Woywitka will not be able to play tomorrow.

Stu Bickel will play for the injured Steve Eminger tomorrow night.

Erixon is accumulating a lot of flyer miles.

With #NYR D Sauer (concussion) out, Eminger (shoulder) gone maybe 8 weeks and Woywitka (foot) aching, Tim Erixon recalled on emergency basis

We should have a sign Bryan McCabe poll............just so I can see how many fans hate the guy, lol

I mean it cant get worse than this? Staal, Sauer , Eminger out leaves the team with 3 capable Dmen........a waiver pickup( Woywitka), guy that no one signed to start the yr(Stralman), good prospect who may or may not be ready(Erixon) and a dude that has never played a NHL game( Bickel )

Wow so we are really going with Bickel. That's asinine. I've liked what i've seen out of Stralman, but ******* that blueline is just sad.

They have limited options.....

Parlett
Valentenko
Bickel
Bell
Erixon

They need (2) of them.....

Erixon back up to the Rangers?

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Tim Erixon has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Head scratcher. Who will they play, him or Bickell? Or both? Woywitka out too?

Woywitka is questionable for tomorrow night's game. That's the reason Erixon was also called up. Insurance.

Gross:

Quote:
And Jeff Woywitka (left ankle/foot) is iffy for tomorrow night’s game at New Jersey after blocking a shot in Saturday’s 3-2 win at Phoenix. So, after recalling rugged defenseman Stu Bickel (6-foot-4, 207 pounds) from Connecticut (AHL) on Sunday on an emergency basis, the Rangers will also be recalling Tim Erixon on emergency recall (the NHL’s holiday roster freeze is in effect today through Dec. 27) in case Woywitka is unable to play.

Makes sense with 6 healthy and Staal oh so close.

Still in shock that nothing has been done with EC or Avery, maybe they're letting them experience the Winter Classic as a tip of the cap to them as veterans and then dealing with them after.

so does Erixon being sent down make enough room for Wolski to be activated?

I still expect waivers on EC and/or Avery as soon as today. Hopefully a trade but likely not
