Summers & Pogge to Portland

I guess either Klesla is good to go, or Rundblad is going to play in Phoenix. Or both.

Summers looked really good. He's coming along nicely and really put himself right back on the radar.

Agreed, and I think he'll crack the lineup next season or this season as GMDM does his thing. Of course, with how well Summers played, he could be one of the chips in a bargaining session.

I do hope Don knows that he'll need some 'cheap' talent to go along with Yandle/OEL/Gormley/Runblad

We need to make some room for Summers. He's ready IMO.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, here. The kid played an average of twelve minutes a game. I don't think there is a bigger Chris Summers fan in Phoenix than me, but I'm not sure we need to go wheeling and dealing to make room. I'd like Rundblad to stick and I think his pp reputation will give him every chance to stick, but i would not be the least bit surprised if he's in Portland come January. We can reevaluate then. Plus, we don't know what the deal with morris is. Might not be a "healthy" scratch. Could be something more that just requires a little time off and a little patience. We don't know.

GMDM has already eluded to the fact that our D will look a lot different next year when Rosi and Aucoin's contracts expire. Also it's not looking good for DeMo - he may not play out the remainder of his contract. He may get traded or paid out if his game does not change for the better.
So we're looking at possibly 3 spots available for next year for Summers, Rundblad and Gormley.

Anyone think that Gonch will ever be a every-day NHL d-man?

With our young depth, if we are not looking good at the deadline, Rozy, Aucoin and maybe even Morris could fetch nice returns from teams needing to add effective vet dmen for the stretch run and playoffs. Summers looking good and adding Runblad only strengthens that possibility.

Potential recipe for disaster if the team is still in Limbo. This season they got lucky on the Langkow deal, if in a similar situation on D next season there could be real problems. I wouldn't mind seeing Aucoin stay with the team though. With the possible exception of Summers I don't think most of the young crew is quite ready yet.

Another No vote. Never been impressed except when he was hyped before coming over.

You can put me down as a no vote. He might get a cup of coffee with another organization but he won't see the ice with the Yotes...not now! Way too many guys in front of him at this point, although I can see him being used in a trade at the deadline.

I'd also like to bring Aucoin back...valuable teacher for the youngsters, plus he's a right-hander that we desperately need, and he can be paired with Yandle again, that combination was v'nice for the Coyotes 2 years ago.

Yandle/OEL/Klesla/Aucoin/Schlemko/Gormley/Runblad/Summers/Demo

I agree the Coyotes shouldn't make room, but it does give the Coyotes an option to include a d'man in a trade to upgrade a position. Depth is a good thing and Summers not having to go through waivers is insurance. He'll be back...

Summers has kind of gotten lost in the mix with all the high end D talent we currently have. I still really like his game. Smart player with the skating ability to match. Might never have much of an offensive game but still see him as a solid puck mover. Kind of reminds me of a poor mans Ryan Suter.

You don't need to put up points to be an effective Dman - see Klesla.

A less flashy version of Keith Ballard during his Coyotes years.
