http://www.edmontonoilers.com/news/index.php?id=207

Maybe he is being showcased for a trade to the Rangers??? Rangers sent down Holt the other day, why would the Pack/Rangers agree to take Conklin on a conditioning stint.

This better only be until Montoya is healthy.

Maybe a trade is on the way......Why would Oilers sacrifice their goalie situation for the Hartford Wolfpack??

Because Conklin sucks and is being outplayed and therefor has no place on their team.

Yes players can be lent from one minor league team to another. This happens a lot in the ECHL and UHL levels. I know some minor league teams are split in terms of the rights of players and their parent teams.

He is on loan happens all the time in the minors. Teams need a player and Rangers need a goalie so we get one on loan for a few games. He plays and then goes back to his original team when done or called up. Same thing like Boston had pj stock but assigned him to Phillie Pantoms the flyers team cause he was a center and they had 4 solid prospects and didn't want to ruin there time playing

the Oilers have only one goalie-spot in Hamilton.....the other one is Montreal's. And Hamilton is the original farmteam of Montreal so i think their goalies get the most starts....maybe the Oilers looked for a Team he could play in the AHL

there's lots of reasons that make Hartford a fit

1. Edmonton is on an East Coast trip, if they need to call him up, it's easier if he's in Hartford
2. Montoya is injured, Holt is in the ECHL
3. Edmonton shares a farm team, and Drouin-Deslauriers doesn't get enough time as it is
4. Slats and Lowe are friends

He'll warm the bench once Montoya comes back, at least.

It's a short term loan, nothing more. Conklin was just reactivated from the IR, and is on a conditioning stint. He won't play more than a game or two. Montoya is injured, and Hartford needs a goalie so it works out well.

Holts in the ECHL?

who's backing up Lundqvist tonight? Weekes is back? I know he was expected during this trip, but didn't know that meant tonight.

Yep, Weekes is back and will be the backup tonight. Renney said in the Post today that he probably will start at least one of the next 3 games.

I did read that...

but didn't think tonight he'd be in. Great timing, too. I'd guess he starts Friday night (but then again, perhaps I should watch tonight's game prior to pontificating, as I'd guess Renney's not decided yet either). Thanks BR.

We were lent a player from the Islanders last year ...was his name Hamilton? I think he led Hartford in scoring.

Jeff Hamilton. He wasn't on loan, however. He signed a minor league contract with Hartford for that season due to being an RFA with the Islanders at that point.
