Agreed those were some bad decisions by him. What makes me a little pissed off is why in the third period did they play a not to lose strategy. You knew the Wings were going to get one after controlling the play for most of the third period.

They played a really solid game through 2 then just... stopped in the third. They were making too many passes and not taking enough shots, especially during that final PP.

Smyth and Horcoff, ugh. Must be frustrating for Hemsky to actually work his arse off for a change only for those two to be ineffective.

Our forwards can hang with Detroit.

The difference is clearly on the blue-line. They scored 2 goals on deflections. Our D can't even get the puck to the net to give our forwards a chance at those type of goals.

it is pathetic that Hall and Eberle are the only forwards who are capable of cycling

The team played very well in the first 2 periods, the pathetic effort started when they went down by a goal.

We played pretty damn well tonight, but had some ****** luck/lack of puck luck. Good signs regardless of the loss. Hallsy is getting his swagger back.

Someone posted the stats showing that the Oilers are 29th in shots by dmen .

Also, I would like to say, those were some sad sad passes being attempted during the clutch power play 6-on-4 at the end of the game. Whoever that woman was who was hired for the sports psychology at the start of the season, needs to be at least fired if not burned at the stake because this team can't handle any kind of pressure situations to save their lives. Up by a goal in the third? A goal against is only a matter of time. Down by a goal in the third? Book it as a loss.

or, and this is just an idea, you can watch the entire game before saying that there wasn't effort.... this was actually one of the best "effort games" of the year for us so far, you just happened to watch the worst part of the game, lol

for the first 45 minutes of the game, we were the better team and were out-hustling the wings

you knew we would lose, but as the thread title says: bad teams find a way to lose, and we're a bad team... the bright side though is that we're not as bad as we were last year... we lose this game by 3 goals last year.... baby steps folks, baby steps

It is clear who is buying into the system of Renney, and who is not. Me thinks the vets are done with Renney.

Renney is so **** in the last couple minutes of games. Never knows when to pull the goalie, doesn't seem to realize that we have the personnel for last-minute heroics but can't figure out an effective configuration for them --- never calls timeouts, and never runs set plays. Sorry but MacT gave us a much better chance to win in these situations, its just too bad we rarely had the personnel to pull it off. But I remember Stolly, Hemmer, and co. pulling off a slew of last minute set plays over the years

Because there's too many players on the Oilers that don't want to win as badly as their opponents on too many nights.

That 3rd period told it all. It's not like the Red Wings were bamboozling the Oilers with talented tic-tac-toe plays all over the ice, they simply played with more intensity, and with a greater investment in the game's outcome.

That's the difference between a winner, and a wannabe who's always looking for silver linings so they can keep the tears back.

This team is trash.

8-2-2 to 14-16-3..........6-14-1 in the last 21 games lol........that is a worse pace then last year.

I have had enough of Ryan Whitney. Does he ever shoot the puck??? He always has a free lane and 75% of the time makes a craptastic pass to someone or 25% of the time takes a little girl shot that either gets blocked or a 3 mph shot goes wide.

The only players I like are:

Hall
RNH
Eberle
Jones
Smid
Khabibulin

Maybe:
Petrell
Potter

The rest of the team is useless.

Ya the positive is that we put together a couple of competitive games against really good teams in the Sharks and Wings.

Funny how we can play the get teams well but we lay eggs against teams like Calgary and Carolina.

Also, is Drew Miller turning into an Oiler killer?

That's 2 GWGs vs. us now.

I don't think you can look at this game as a negative. The Oilers were outclassed, but they played hard. Win or lose, this is the effort I want to see every game. There were some definite positives here and I'm looking forward for Minny on Thursday.

You admittedly watched 5/60 minutes and somehow think no one gave any effort at all?

**** some of you guys just complain for the sake of having something to do I think.

Plenty of guys with a ton of effort tonight. Guys like Jones, Hall, Petry, Gilbert, and Smid were working their ass off all night, just couldn't get it done...don't judge effort on a bad end to the game.

If you watched the rest of the game you wouldn't be saying this. Kinda hard to judge a game when you only watch a tiny portion of it.
