Depending if we can sign a significant blueliner (then no need to re-sign Carkner), we could start making some noise

* Hoffman, Grant, Petersson, Gryba, Wiercioch are the call-ups.

We can trade Butler at some point too. Hopefully he can up his value

Alfie doesn't need to retire for us to sign Parise, not sure why people keep suggesting it either. Alfie is a right winger , Parise is a left winger.
I think Alfie will come back for 1 more season too..he's still on the payroll for one more season...However, I still think we should try hard for Parise in the summer, he's only 28 I believe and I would sign him for a 5 or 6 year deal.

No love for stone?

This kid has to be on this roster next season. Unless he ***** the bed over training camp, he's gonna be playing here.

with Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Filatov, Petersson, Da Costa, Hoffman, Prince, Grant, etc......all pushing for 1(maybe 2 spots) at camp next fall...he may just have to start the year in Bingo.

I think Neil is moved to replace that 2nd we sent for Turris. I think Lee stays. I think Gonchar accepts a trade to a contender (he only has two seasons left for another Cup - I could see Pittsburgh or Philadelphia taking him for a run). I agree Butler, Kuba, Konopka are not here.

Regin - Spezza - Michalek
Foligno - Turris - Alfredsson
Greening - Smith - Condra
Silfverberg - Zibanejad - Stone
Winchester

Cowen - Karlsson
UFA/RFA/Borowiecki - Borowiecki/Gonchar
Phillips - Lee
Carkner

Its the year after when Gonchar (for sure)Regin, Alfredsson and Winchester are gone and Hoffman, Pageau and DaCosta/Prince step in...

next year i think is the last year to do some playoff damage with alfie, so it will be a very important year (for me as a fan anyway).
Maybe BM is thinking of alfie in the back of his mind while making the deal for turris. Keeping that mind, i really like the turris addition.

Looking at this lineup, it has playoff potential and is probably one of the more skilled and balanced lineups the team has had in a very long time.

I kept all the best players (with playoff potential) from the current roster and added all the best prospects that should be ready next year. Da Costa is the only other forward i think that could have a chance, i just don't see where he fits in here. Regin and Zib can be swapped or Greening moved to 1st line, but the best pieces available to the org. are in the lineup to work with imo.

Regin-Spezza-Alfredsson
Foligno-Turris-Michalek
Silfverberg-Zibanejad-Petersson
Greening-Smith-Neil

on Defense it looks alright too, although another veteran might need to be added. lots of time to figure that out. We have to see how Boro does first.

Cowen-Karlsson
Borowiecki-Gonchar
Phillips-Lee

of course we'll have

Anderson
Lehner

in goal.
Some Mr. Anderson playoff magic and we have something special i think.
Yes a lot of things need to go right for this to work, but that's usually true of any successful playoff team.

I just don't see Alfie coming back for $1 million...unless EM has a back-door deal to pay him handsomely as an executive down the road...

you're right that it's probably only 50/50 that he comes back. but until we hear anything from him or see a decline in his game i'm going to assume he's playing next year.
(although i get how it makes a lot of sense for him to make this his last)

Do you really think Alfie would give a **** about money at this point in his career???! The guy's made over enough over the course of his career to not have that factor in at all. He'll play if he feels his body can cope, based on his performance the last few games I don't think he's feeling that bad either.

How I see it in 2012-13:

Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Foligno-Turris-Alfredsson
Silverberg/Regin-Zibanejad-Regin/Silverberg
Neil-Smith-Condra

Cowen-Karlsson
Phillips-Gonchar
Lee-Borowiecki/Wiercoch/UFA

Anderson
Lehner

i didn't say and don't think it would have anything to do with money at all.
Just because he's feeling good might not mean he wants to come back for another year. He has a family too. He's played a long time, and looks like he should have a relatively successful season. players sometimes like to end on a good note rather than an injury or as a role player.
i don't know, we don't know, i don't think he knows until this season is done. but there is at least a chance he retires. he hinted at it himself.

So much cap space next year, especially with all razor and Chooch coming off the books. Sens need to pick up at least one elite talent next season. We can even move some youth if need be.

UFA (5M) / Jason Spezza ($7.000m) / Milan Michalek ($4.333m)
Kyle Turris ($1.400m) / Mika Zibanejad ($1.775m) / Daniel Alfredsson ($4.875m)
Nick Foligno ($2.000m) / Peter Regin ($1.500m) / Jakob Silfverberg ($0.900m)
Colin Greening ($0.816m) / Zack Smith ($0.700m) / Chris Neil ($2.000m)
Erik Condra ($0.625m)

DEFENSEMEN
Jared Cowen ($1.265m) / UFA (5m)
Mark Borowiecki ($0.610m) / Erik Karlsson ($5.000m)
Chris Phillips ($3.083m) / Matt Carkner ($0.900m)
Brian Lee ($1.000m)

Trade Butler, Gonchar and anyone else who I`ve missed. That`s a contender right there.

I'll add my 2 cents. These lines are based on no UFA signings ( obviously)

Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Regin- Turris- Alfredsson
Silfverberg- Zibbby- Foligno
Condra -Smith - Neil

Karlsson- Cowen
Phillips- Lee
Gonchar- Borocop

Anderson
Lehner

Potential Line-up:

Greening - Spezza - Michalek
Foligno - Turris - Silfverberg
Regin - Zibanejad - Alfredsson
Daugavins - Z.Smith - Neil
x-Condra, Winchester

Notes: I feel that if Alfie retires, we'll pursue a player like Hemsky to fill in on RW. It's entirely possible one Zibby starts in the AHL, which means Daugavins is back in the lineup (either Regin or Z.Smith take the 3C spot).

Cowen - Karlsson
Phillips - Gonchar
Borowiecki - Lee
x-Carkner

Anderson
Lehner

Notes: A UFA upgrade on D is possible, but unlikely I think. We'll need to replace Kuba's minutes, and I expect Cowen to do exactly that. Cap-wise, Karlsson is due for a big raise, which will replace Kuba's lost cap. I would not be disappointed if Kuba is given a short-term extension and Lee walks instead.

IMO OBrian in the fourth line yes. He is better than Konopka or Winchester, smarter, skiller than they and plays very good in PK, he has good character and very good hits. IMO yes!!!
