Visentin and Bunz are the goalies. Domingue was cut today.
Looks like Gormley is in, too.
Bunz was cut I believe. Wedgewood is the 2nd goalie.
Visentin has an upward battle to win over Canadian fans btw. He's being blamed by some for the collapse in the gold medal game last year by some so they are almost outraged that he even got an invite to the camp let alone be publicly named as the starter.
I have nothing to report on Ruutu. If he was even dressed I didn't see him.
Visentin displayed a bit of nerves in the first period. A couple of bad rebounds and he lost his net on the PP which is the reason for the lone goal against (on a one timer where he slid too far over due to him losing the net).
Gormely looked solid. I especially liked some of the puck movement on the PP. Wore an "A" for the game as well. Best game I've seen him play to be honest.
He returned to action Dec 9 from his knee injury.
He took the night off on Dec 10 becuase Sarnia played again the next day.
He suffered a concussion in his second game back on Dec 11.
Prior to the concussion I asked in the US WJC thread if he had a shot a making the team. I get at least one positive reply. It was in that same thread that I read about an unconfirmed concussion.

Sits out two years with a bad back, blows out his knee before he plays a game, sits out half a season, comes back and gets a concussion in his second game.

Oh. My. God.
relax. no confirmation of this at all from any valid source. I just emailed David Vest for confirmation.

I've hated this pick since day one. 11 games in the past 2 years? I don't even understand how we scouted him enough to judge that he was a first round talent. I just didn't understand this pick when it happened, and half a year later I still don't.

Actually, it was a few more games than that...
09-10 2gp for USNTDP, 8gp for USA-U17 -->10gp
10-11 9gp for USHL, 22gp for USNTDP, 6gp for USA-U18 -->37gp
11-12 2gp for OHL -->2gp
Murphy and Ruuttu - I wonder if those two picks had anything to do with the Don laying boot to KG?
Given the comments Maloney made about our second round picks during the Turris press conference I would say that led to the demise of Gretzky. He also tended to not have a feel for where other teams had players. He nearly panicked on the Visentin selection (Phoenix dealt down to Montreal to pick up an extra pick). The number of 2nd and 3rd round picks on goalies is an embarassment IMO. We wasted a lot of picks finding our goalie of the future. We also gave up a 2nd to move up to take 2nd year eligible Center Tikhonov based on Gretzky's recommendation. Let's not even talk about our Staal selection.
