Why no to Miller? Do you think our Goaltending is good enough to win a Cup with us?
Not saying we need him that badly, but our chances are better with him than with CC/Emery

Because Miller is costly and has been shaky these past 2 years
Infact outside of his amazing Olympic year he has been a good not great goalie his entire career ,, That big 2010 elavated him to elite level but he has not continued to play at that level
Honestly he looks like a 1 year anamoly as far as being Elite

shaky or not, he still was a Top10 goalie in the NHL. When he plays like he can, he is Top3.
looks like Hitchcock doesn't like Stewart and he is shopped. That said, we don't have what it takes to get him - what we are willing to give up. But I'd like him in the eastern Conf
Stewart is having a horrible season so far. We may be able to get him for relatively cheap.
Maybe, and that's a big maybe, some eastern team could get him cheap, but a western team will have to pay true value or better, while a divisional rival would require a kings ransom. Can't see the Hawks emptying the vault (playerwise) for him.
Thing is, the Hawks are much better than the Sabres. Put him in our lineup and the numbers go up. (Speaking about Miller).
^
Hawks have yielded more goals then Sabres this year and our D has been more erratic ,, So saying that Miller would instantly improve his #'s in Hawks uniform is not really being honest
Hawks have started to play better defensively but thru the year Sabres have been more consistantly better defensively
Stewart is lazy ,, He tries to get by on his talent alone
Same thing last year in Colorado ,, He was floating and not giving max effort. He got traded and showed some fire and this year he is back to floating on ice and giving half-hearted effort most nights
With Brunette Carcillo Mayers and O'Donnell coming off the books next year. The Hawks will be close to 9mil in cap space. Of these 4 I would only resign Mayers and Carcillo for each under 1mil.
With this, I believe we can still definitely afford a Parise/Ryan/Weber contract with about 1 1/2mil left in cap space. Would you guys take the financial risk given what we have in cap space left?

We have Leddy's eventual raise to worry about. He'll likely get a Hammer type contract.
If crawford/emery continue to play like this, there's no reason to trade for a goalie.
now, if we could acquire a physical, stay at home dman who could potentially be a #3, but would be a #5 on the hawks, that would be a game changer. Same thing with a top 6 winger.
I think we're all looking for immediate changes, but we're forgetting about our prospect depth that is everything we're going to need, just not available until 3-4 years from now. Our team is going to be cup contenders for the next decade with Bowman as GM and our scouting staff. I dont think we need any immediate changes. In 3-4 years our lineup should be like this:
Olsen should be left in the minors until he's overseasoned. He's got such a high potential, yet at every level he's been slow to acclimate. We've got the luxury of taking out time with him so he can be the second pairing shutdown man we need.
