If I was giving the option between Montreal and a handful of other places. Montreal would be near the bottom every time of the place I would sign, no way, no how, would a normal person want to put up with this crap every day of his life.
in that case, since it's not going to change, i guess Molson should sell the team and the league move it somewhere in the US. So then when Quebecor gets their team for Quebec City, we could all cheer for the new Nordiques... oh what a beautiful day...

I think that, to protect the culture, the government should FORCE everyone to listen to the coach's post game comments. Once we have a french coach in place, of course.

I mean it would be so silly to make such a big deal out of this only to have nobody actually pay attention to these post-game interviews. Are they even televised? But no worries. The government has a responsibility to protect the culture by playing it on every channel, no matter what.

It's a business

So if you need a french coach to make more money . Do it

And no it's not about winning. In Montreal it's Stanley cup or bust . Randy will not win a cup here.

Also yes, the Quebec Government should SHUT UP. Fix your corruption bullcrap and then worry about a private enterprise that pays you millions in taxes every ****ing year.

And no I will not stop to cheer for the Habs because I move to Toronto. Heck, I might enjoy it more as I won't be surrounded with bandwagoners Habs fans who only care what name is one the back of the jersey instead of the logo in front.
good for you, Habs needs more fans in Toronto... personnaly, i don't care for the name in the back of the jersey, i would switch Darche for Thornton any day of the week.... that being said, i would also switch a Gomez or a Gill or a Camallari for a Giroux or a Vlasic...

The only people embarassing themselves in this entire debacle are those clamouring for a French coach and how the mean old English are taking over.

Keep living in your dream world.

No, he just shouldn't cater to the lunatic fringe. I hope the Nordiques do comeback, so a few of ya's take a hike.

More often than not, the commentator on the TV will translate whatever the coach said.

So, you really don't have anything to say. It's just stupid.

I think the only reason the Quebec government is making a big deal about a english speaking coach is to look like the are doing something

set a fire on the montreal canadien franchise, no one will notice the fires that Quebec government has going on....

The habs are my favorite hockey team. I'm English and from New Brunswick, you don't own the team anymore than I do. I have np with you having pride in your culture/language ect, but I do have a problem with you interrupting the everyday workings of my favorite hockey team.
And you don't own the team either so zip it, people in Quebec have the rights to say what they want, what they think. As a private company, Molson can do whatever he wants with the Habs, that being said he as a board to answer to, and there is 21 000 something investors every 41 games that may have a word to say about the way he's doing business.

I don't agree with the menu at McDonalds, they don't have to listen to me, but if enough of the customers are unhappy and they say it, and stop supporting the businness, McDonalds will have to do changes, it's the cost of doing business

It's especially funny because Quebecers LOVE to make fun of Americans. Especially southern, conservative Americans. Well guess what guys? YOU ARE JUST AS BAD. YOU LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEY DO.

I swear to god, after all this is done and we get a good ol' gars de chez nous as coach... if the post-game coach press conference is not THE highest rated segment on TV I will start a riot and burn down every newspaper office in this city.
And you'll go to jail for a stupid reason for something that you don't control and, by the way, it's only a sport....

Winning would stop the whining but since it's not going to happen with the management in place, the language issue will remain a problem...

What i hate about the french media is the hypocracy. Hire any francophone coach right now, until the end of the season (you can't garantee longer as Gauthier will be fired this summer and you want a gm to bring is people) and after a two weeks honeymoon, and still losing, cause the team is more crap than not of the good language, media will jump on the coach, like they do everytime... AND LIKE WE DO ALL THE TIME IN HERE, People were criticizing Vigneault, Julien and Therrien here, and they did fine elsewhere....
