Gulutzan detailed the injuries Morrow's been dealing with today.

The infection in his elbow, which we kind of knew about (and is probably staph, which sucks), the knee, which we kind of knew about, and a back issue that he's been having to take "injections" for (likely cortisone, since they mentioned 3 times a year).

A back injury would explain a lot of things about why he's been moving so poorly. If it's something he can fight through this season or should just bail on to get surgically repaired depends on exactly what it is, and they ain't telling us that.

Glovesave - while I agree in theory that if a player is so injured his performance is affected, he should sit, it simply doesn't work that way for all of your established guys. Hell, take Ott. We've all marveled at how fast his skating is this year after he got a chronic ankle injury fixed up. Given that it's had such an impact on his game, should he have sat and had it fixed at the beginning of last season? Maybe, but they'll never do that unless a player is so hurt he can make no meaningful contribution. Morrow is definitely limited, but he's still producing more than most other players in that spot at the moment.

It helps that he's now skating slightly faster than NASA's Crawler-Transporter.

7 points in 6 games since returning.

In his post game interview, he credited a bit of it to playing with Ott, who does the dirty work in the corners. He hypothezied that this may allow him to play a bit higher in the zone to take/make passes.

But its definitely more than that. He's faster, getting into good spots, and not being so boneheaded with his penalties (somewhat, he still hasn't dropped the habit yet). Healing some of those injuries really helped.

Really glad he's back. I love Morrow, and always want to see him succeed. Hope he can keep it up, i'd like to see him play with whole career with us.

Keep it up Captain!

He'll never stop doing that, ever.

I'm as harsh a critic of him as there is but it's nice to see the time off helped. I certainly don't feel like his playing well now changes anything that was said about him previously though. He was hurting the team on a shift to shift basis; I'm glad that has been reversed.

I think there's a lot to that. Ott is much more proficient at winning 1v1 board battles than Morrow. That's also part of why Ryder didn't work as expected on that line... he doesn't win them at a high enough clip either. Go back to when Lehts was on that line and it was dominant, what was happening? Lehts was winning all the puck battles.
