Scott and Engelland clearly drop the gloves at the same time, yet Scott walks away with a 2 minute penalty and a 10 minute misconduct for instigating

There is no rhyme or reason to when this call is made. Its such a stupid rule.

That sounds so dirty.

Also, that play is pretty much everything that's wrong with the instigator rule IMO. Dumb call that didn't need to be made.

The fact that Pitt scored on the subsequent powerplay probably encouraged Engelland more than the beatdown discouraged him.

Engelland actually looks like he landed more punches to his actual face. If he was three inches taller, I think he wins that. Scott basically just hits his helmet. They ended it as soon as Scott rips his helmet off.

I've never been a fan of the instigator penalty to begin with, so don't think this is defending a Penguin or whatever. But my guess is the ref saw Scott as the instigator because he went straight for Engelland after Engelland threw the hit. In other words, while both dropped the gloves at the same time, the ref probably judged that it was Scott confronting Engelland after the hit that instigated the fight.

Just IMO.

He lands two-three bombs directly to the left side of his face at like 16-22 seconds.

Good fight, sure Scott won but he jumped him and didn't wait for Engelland to square off, so.

Maybe Shero now realizes that BigMac should be up with the big club.

Why? BigMac can barely be trusted with more than a couple of shifts per game so the probability of him actually being on the ice when this occurs is highly unlikely.

What? Engelland dropped his gloves before Scott even got to him. In what world is that jumping someone?

Scott was coming over to Engelland to instigate the fight, it doesn't matter whose gloves came off first.

I'm arguing he didn't jump him, not that he wasn't an instigator.

Can't skate, can't shoot, can't pass...I'm wondering which one of his 21 minutes of ice time this season you're pinpointing in describing him as anything but a waste of a roster spot and cap space.

He's a disgrace to the nickname 'Big Mac'.

Dont dont know whats more suprising, Scott man handling Engelland or Scott actually enforcing. Wish it was Big Mac doing the fighting though.

Too many times Scott has been turned down for fights this year. It was nice to see him finally not give someone a choice. Thats what he's paid to do.

We can agree to disagree to an extent. No real need to debate about this player. Not sure what you really expect from him though. Be a playmaker?
