Not expecting a win tonight, but the team has played well. The only times we have really looked bad are on nights when the effort isn't there. Must be frustrating for the coaching staff. I think Giggy's meeting at center ice was a big turning point for the team. No clue what he would have said, but the team seems to have stopped playing like they want the coach fired, and started to play for each other. Either way, Giggy was an excellent signing. Perfect fit.
I would rather have Quincey back in there, but I am okay with Hunwick getting a pat on the back after sitting almost the entire season. At some point we had to see how he'd be on this version of the team, and having two speedy D hasn't hurt us so far. Why not let him play one more game and let Quincey sit and rest a bit more? I also love that Quincey really wants back in.

The real question, and one I hope we face soon, is what to do when Wilson comes back. I don't think we'll see Elliott sitting very often while he's on the big club. He's certainly had his share of rookie mistakes, but he's got a skillset we definitely don't have otherwise on the blue line.

With the unpredictable nature of concussions he could be gone the rest of the season.

They got so desperate with injuries that Blues management resorted to signing fans out of HF boards to fill gaps in the bottom 6.

I don't doubt that possibility at all, but I'm hopeful. He's had a breakout season and I would really miss his big hits.

I would enjoy it if Lapierre incurred a concussion. According to the Code of Orcarabi, he should be killed. On the ice.

Quincey has stunk for the past little while. Not too upset about him sitting one out.

I remember last year when I said I didn't think O'Byr wasn't a top 4 dman and had disagreements with some people. Now its showing. Great depth guy but ****ed if he's in your top 4.

I agree. The only person he should be pissed at is himself.

Quincey is a superior player than Hunwick, that is for sure. I think he makes the Avs a better team with him in the lineup rather than out.

Kind of a curious decision, unless he has not received medical clearance.

But Sacco is a strange coach at times. If the team has won one or two games in a row, he seems frightened to make any changes to the lineup. I realize many hockey people are superstitious, but Sacco seems to take it to the extreme.

Good with Quincey sitting. Guy takes at least one stupid penalty a game if not more. Hunwick has been acceptable the last few games. With him in the line up Colorado is definitely a better transition team.

You were wrong last year. His play has regressed significantly since last season. He was more physical last year, and seemed more mobile. He has really stunk this season. I have said this for the past month, he should only be on the PK and very limited 5 on 5 play.

I don't think he's been that bad. He's replaced Foote as our guy who can staple his man to the boards. Sacco must really like him and O'Brien, they've played tons and neither have a sat a game as healthy scratches, if I am remembering correctly.

If Avs made it to a shoot out for 82 games they'd make the playoffs

I think O'Byrne has been our worst defenseman this year.

Cody McLeod has the worst career +/- in an Avalanche uniform, with -38. Right above him on the list is Tyler Arnason, at -25.
So there's that.

Pretty sad considering the minute amount of ice time he gets.

Maybe because they're sitting comfortably in playoff position, 9 points ahead of the Avs in 2 fewer games?
