Top 6 Forward to San Jose?

With Havlat being out for an extended amount of time, the Sharks are going to need another top 6 forward. Right now they have D prospects, G prospects and picks to offer. What will it take to get us another top 6 forward?

They simply can't afford one unless a team takes on Torrey Mitchell and Antero Niittymaki.

Tuomo Ruutu + future considerations for a 1st + Niittymaki?

Ruutu would be a nice fit on the Sharks, I think. He's a dynamic physical presence on pace for ~26 goals. He's pretty versatile in that he can play anywhere in the lineup. Future considerations = 3rd or 4th round pick in exchange for his negotiating rights before the draft. It's a hefty and possibly unrealistic price, but I don't know that I would move him for anything less.

That would definitely be a trade to think about. I'd probably push for the 1st to be 2013 even at the cost of the future considerations part of the trade but that's probably good on the value side of it.

Torrey Mitchell for David Jones.

Not that Jones is a great top six player, but he'd be bumped once Havlat returns.

I think Jones is a lot better player than Mitchell is.

Avalanche say no.

While I don't think the value is that far off, if at all, the Sharks won't be interested in it. They have a mix on their blue line that they have no desire to touch this season. They also don't really get an answer by swapping McGinn for MacArthur. MacArthur fills the void on the 2nd line but losing McGinn will pretty much kill the 3rd line until Havlat comes back.

Sharks would still have to add to make this happen.

I like it but I doubt the Sharks will add Matt Irwin to any trade proposals right now. If they move prospects, they will be goalie or forward prospects.

Only if it's a conditional 2013 1st depending on Ruutu re-signing, 2nd+3rd if Ruutu doesn't re-sign.

I like that San Jose deal for Tuomo Ruutu. I think Ruutu would be a great fit in San Jose.

Cammalleri or Kostitsyn could be available for the right price.

Mitchell
Sheppard
1st round pick'12

for

Kostitsyn
Palushaj
2nd or 3rd round pick'13

????

Cap wise it works, San Jose gets a top 6 player who seems to be turning the corner in his career, just don't see managment re-signing him for some reason. Montreal gets a gritty player in Mitchell coming back along with a center with size who can play 3rd and 4th line duties. The 1st round pick while it will be a low pick, makes up for the talent going back to San Jose.

3.8 RFA at the end of the year. They can take back someone if need be, preferrably a defenseman. But I would LOVE for the Rangers to be able to add Petrecki. I grew up playing against him. That guy is an ANIMAL.

Want Brad Boyes back?

To SJ:

Brad Boyes (4.0)

To BUF:

Torrey Mitchell (1.366)
SJ 2012 3rd

Based on their prorated salaries remaining, SJ would take on about $1.4m in cap.

So one of your top 6 forwards gets injured and your calling for a trade already? We've got 4 of our 6 top 6 injured and we're not calling for a trade. Just make do with what you've got.

We will, he's only out 6-8 weeks. I don't even know why this thread exists...

We still need a #7, nothing has changed.

We'll probably trade Nitty since Greiss is signed to a 1-way contract next year at a low cap hit.

Which kind of dman are you looking for?
