The Kings haven’t officially activated Mike Richards, but assuming they do tomorrow — it’s expected — they will not have to make a corresponding roster move. Because of the current holiday roster freeze, the Kings are allowed to remove a player from injured reserve without sending down a player or exposing one to waivers. If, on Dec. 28 — when the freeze ends — the Kings still have an extra body, they will then have to make a move.
Good news for Loktionov and/or Voynov. They get another week of NHL pay.

I hope Sutter takes Kopitar off the PK too. Waste of energy for Kopitar. Kings have plenty of PK options available. Keep Kopitar energized for offense.

Richardson and Lewis on the Top6. These two needs to produce or else they will be scratched for life...

I have a feeling Richardson and Lewis will pot in couple of goals

Don't think they were put where they are to produce per se. I think they were put there for speed on the forecheck.

Finally!!! It's about time we see lines put together where there is definite logic behind them. Murray's dartboard lines were so damn frustrating

Agreed. Kopitar logs a ton of ice time. It's not always necessary.

Would be nice if we still had Handzus for PK duty.

Some of the NHLs best forwards kill penalties and still produce offensively. Its time for Kopitar to get in better shape if he can't handle the ice time

It's a lot more rare than you think.

Of the top 30 NHL forwards in SH TOI/G, only Giroux and Kopitar are in the top 30 of NHL scoring. No reason for Kopitar to be getting the most SH TOI/G for the Kings forwards.

At least Giroux doesn't lead his teams forwards in SH TOI/G. He's third.

Wouldn't it be better to use Kopitar after a successful kill to gain the momentum and put pressure on the other team?

With Richards back its certainly a lot easier to curb Kopi's PK minutes. Be interesting to see if that makes the difference.

we dont need Handzus. Richards/Brown/Gagne/Stoll/Lewis/Richardson/Fraser are all effective pk'ers

Holy hell after *****ing and moaning for the last 3 weeks I'm actually excited to see those lines play tomorrow. I always thought Richardson played his best with Kopitar, and adding Lewis to the 2nd line with Gagne and Richards could really open things up.

Now if DS can get JJ/Greene pairing to actually work then he's a godamn miracle worker.

He just needs to give 'em the Sgt. Hartman treatment:

"What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?"

Probably the most expensive third line.

Interesting move to put all the underachieving players together. If that's on purpose I really like the approach.

thats an 11.5 Million Dollar 3rd line... But in retrospect...a Johnson Doughty D pairing is a 11.5 Million Dollar Pair.

They've been playing on the same line since about the third shift of the Boston game.

That line has 2 goals and 4 assists in the past 2 games, and were the only thing positive to come out of the Detroit massacre. I really like their interaction.

Flames fan coming in peace!

I'm really excited to see what Sutter does in LA. I'll be tuning into most of the game tonight to see how it plays out. When your entire team starts playing "Sutter Hockey" its great to watch as the opponents get worn down. Sutter had great success here with a team of scrubs, and I think LA has pretty much the perfect team for Sutter style hackey.

As one of those opposed to this hire, I have to say he's making a good first impression. Here's hoping he proves us doubters wrong. Would be sweet to begin the Sutter era w/ a win over the Ducks.

Good move by both coaches then. I've only seen parts of the last few games so I didn't notice before.

If I didn't hate the Ducks so much, I'd almost feel sorry for them. Let's just say I like the Kings chances tonight.

Mike Richards back, and in general, a bunch of Kings auditioning so that they don't have to get shipped off to Winnipeg. That's what I expect we will see.
